Every time I come here to look at the fan thread it makes me want to get a lathe, learn where to get the metal stock, and learn to do this myself... Not that I have ANY experience... but I'd love to try.

I kinda have access to a lathe, and my grandfather knows how to work one, but he lives 4 hours away. Maybe I'll ask him to teach me some time and I'll give it a shot.

Man I wish I owned one of Ehgemus's hosts. I joined after he had already left and from what I have seen, I missed out on the work of an amazing artist.

If anyone happens to have one of his hosts that they'd be willing to sell I'll gladly take a look at it! :) :D

I second this. We got into the hobby a little too late :(
But one of his hosts would be a great addition to any collection

I'd be willing to pay a little extra for one if it was in good condition still:whistle: (anyone?)

If you are referring to my lightsaber, it already had a NUBM44 diode in it with a driver and lens, purchased as a complete laser. Much better than a Sci-Fi laser with this diode in it for more $$$.

I still have a couple hosts that I'm waiting to build. I just stich ed this leather grip onto it. Ive used a bunch of different things for grip materials from wood vaneer to carbon fiber but I thought this would look cool. I'm putting this screen in it once we get all the bugs worked out. Hopefully I'll have it done this week. I still have to drill the holes for the power up and down buttons.

ABarnett, that is nice leather on your host. I am impressed with your attention to detail. +Rep.

Thanks. I was surprised at how well it turned out myself. I've never done anything with leather before.

Here's the one I made with the wood vaneer I meant to post it a while ago. I had to resize it to upload it so it looks distorted but you can get an idea.

It's burled maple. I also have some madrona wood vaneer. It's a shame he's not building hosts anymore. They were really nice. But I understand. For the amount of work he put into them what he charged was really cheap.
