I just received my 2W 445nm laser from jet lasers. This device is beautiful! Very well built.. BUT I think i'm doing something wrong?

HALP!!!

I can't even get the LED indicators to illuminate I have dozens of 18650 batteries. They are all flat top 18650’s. Must I use button top 18650’s to get the laser to work?

Thank you.

That might be an issue. Does it look like your flat tops aren't making contact?

Thank you.

NIce laser you have there--excellent quality professional level, all of JetLasers products. Good luck with it.

Sound like no electrical connection between the batteries.

Two button top batteries -- from the JetLasers web site:
"Notes: PL-E Pro 445/450nm lasers run on two 16340/cr123a(3.4cm long) lithium batteries. The length is around 28cm. With the extension(included by default free of charge), PL-E Pro 445/450nm lasers can run on two 18650/26650s(6.5cm+ long, button top) lithium batteries. The overall length is 35cm."

If you are using flat top batteries you need to use the small round disc magnets usually supplied with the laser so the top/positive side first battery in makes contact with the bottom/ negative side of the second battery installed ---- install negative side first toward front of laser. If you have 2 16340s you can use them to run it without the handle extension for the 18650/26650

Suggest you get 2 high quality 26650 button tops for it--- for best fit and longest run time between recharges.

Did it come with a button magnet for flat top batteries? I thought I read once that they did and if so are you using it? I'm sure the Jetlaser pros will chime in. :)

I see Encap beat me to it. ;)

If you're using two 18650's they should be button tops, or alternatively, you can use a small neodymium magnet as a spacer between the batteries.

Looks like Encap beat us to it. :)

/this.
Flat top 18650's aren't good to use in series because there's no contact between the batteries.

Magnetic spacers are very cheap. You can also put a small blob of solder on the positive contact, or solder on a small piece of conductive metal.

Just be careful with any kind of spacers, when inserting and removing the batteries, make sure the spacer doesn't come in contact with the host (tube wall) and cause a short.... that would be bad.

why didn't you come to me???

try the spacer magnet BUT it must never touch the insides-
if you rock it back and forth and hear the battery moving-you need the spacer-
some of the black hosts do not need it-all the silver ones I have seen do unless button toppers--ALL JLs take neg end to LD-pos to tailcap.
if it needs a fix I can ship it for you free back to Gray/&JL.
I do not open them myself...
hope its OK=-PM anytime you need me.... hak

Alright now... :tinfoil:

I found the magnets that jetlasers included and the laser is up and running!

The PL-E Pro 445nm laser is the highest quality and certainly the largest laser I have ever owned!

On the 15th I'm going to order the 300mw 532nm PL-E Pro! Very well done JL!

THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR ALL OF YOUR HELP!:thanks:

I do apologize for not going to you first. I haven't been on here in many years and I've forgotten who everyone is. I found of the magnets stuck to the ring that keeps the tail switch Keys together.

I'm in love with the quality of these!

I'm in love with the quality of these!

There you go. JetLasers ships all new units with a set of magnets for people that only have flat top 18650 or 26650s but nothing about them in the instructions--so several people have asked th same question you , only to find the magnets afterward.

You are not alone. Everyone who owns a JetLasers product, loves it.

JetLasers products more expensive than other hand held lasers, Yes, but not by a lot and are worth every penny spent to obtain one considering the exceptional quality and features of their products at a reasonable price + the best customer service/support in the business and not just before you buy---you get the same attention after you buy. Any problems are always addressed quickly made right. All of their lasers a built overspec so after many years of use they still will meet specifiations.

Gray and Jetlasers only want happy customers who feel they received something of value that they enjoy for their hard earned money spent with JetLasers. They will do whatever it takes to accomplish that--they have been known even to allow product to be returned for full refund several months after the sale if the customer is simply not happy with the product purchased for whtever reasons.
The JetLasers guys are a different breed---not in it just for for the money.
The founders are all engineers and laser enthusiasts themselves and are proud of the products they make. They do the best job they can do within affordable prices. Very unusual for a Chinese company + plus their customer service, as mentioned prior, is the best in the business.

:D thanks Encap +7 (WHEN i CAN)
JL is the best choice when quality and service are important-
only a fool would go purly by output=most exaggerate -JL tries very hard to ONLY sell overspec-this way someday down the road it may lose some power but hopefull will still be spec..
and we know all too well that JL is not just another China laser maker/seller..'arythna 'got a PL-C 532/250mW that made 440mW!in one of my GBs--wow!! best one out of maybe 25 of these we sold..
