As im patiently awaiting my 655nm labby(halfway through the waiting period now :D) I decided to do some searching on ways 655nm light is used in scientific, communications or any other means.

I know different wavelengths are used for different purposes, but I wonder. What uses is 655nm light used for?

Thanks!

655nm lasers are used in some expensive machines used to stimulate hair regrowth. Not for hair removal, IR is used in hair removal. 655nm lasers are heavily used in bore sighters, these are used to adjust the sites on firearms so they are accurate, am not talking about laser sights, although 655nm is also used in some of those. I don't know what else but there must be a few more things.

Thanks Alan!

I did do some quick research and found surprisingly enough exactly what you mentioned concerning the hair growth :)

You're welcome. If anyone needs to regrow hair that's the way to do it.

More importantly, use the RIGHT goggles :)

The ones in the picture are the type that block 532 and shorter wavelengths, but offer zero protection from 650 nm or such.

You're quite right, I was just making a little joke, notice I don't have much hair left.

Yep! I'm going to be getting some SL 190-540nm/580nm-780nm goggles soon.

Plan on using them for any sort of burning :)

Indeed. Never forget the goggles. Who would want hair growing out of their eyes?:crackup::crackup:

You just gave me a brilliant idea, I wonder if I could build a booth that you could step into, wearing goggles of course, but otherwise completely naked, that would stimulate hair growth over your entire body and cause a human to grow fir like the apes.

Haha, go for it :D

Just gotta find someone to test it, though. :p
