Well this is Post 1000!
I am sure I hold the record on the SLOWEST time to reach 1000 posts. But that just means I have a longer attention span than most.

Since I don't remember a welcome section when I joined the forum, consider this my intro

After 7+ years, I own more lasers than I ever thought I would, spent more money than I planned and I'm always trying to find room for more of them in our little place. But I still love them. As a result of this forum and lasers, I've also gotten into Nixies, Dekatrons and Geissler tubes.

It helps that my wife loves them, which is a big plus. She especially loves the Multiline argons and going to shows like SELEM.

Thanks to lots of people on here for the help and answers to questions, but mostly thanks to the wonderful Search button
If you want to learn about lasers this is the place to be.

Congrats!

But, I think I'm on track to break your record. ;)

Over your 7 year history you've averaged 0.37 post per day.

I've been here since November of 2013 and I'm averaging 0.07 posts per day, which means I will hit 1000 posts in, oh, maybe 37 years.

I just don't have much to say. :D

If you can keep your interest here for that long. There are some with less posts that have been here longer, but usually their interest wains and they disappear :)

I'd be happy not to be the slowest, but another 900+ posts and 6 years or more you may be.

I'm one of those whom interest in lasers appears and disappears, but there's no way I could break any record on being the slowest;)

Usually SELEM starts to peak my annual interest. Like you it comes and goes over the course of the year.

Well it's about time. Congratulations on 1000 posts.

I must of missed out on this guy. I keep seeing the name mentioned but have no memory of him.

You missed a historic period in time for LPF. USAbro may be banned but he's not forgotten.

Well then +rep for keeping your mouth shut. It would be wonderful if LPF could still be here in 37 years. I can only begin to imagine the things people would be talking about that far in the future.

I definitely hope it still is. What I hope doesn't happen however is that the power of lasers keeps increasing. At the current rate we'll have such high powered diodes in 37 years that it's no fun anymore. Luckily there will probably still be lower powered lasers out there as well.

The interest is there, definitely. But for some strange reason I am not able to spend as much time as I would like on the board. Maybe some day in the forseeable future, but not now. I visit frequently, but just don't post much. I'm not one for idle chit chat.

It was fun building my LPM and experimenting with the various handhelds and I will continue to enjoy what I have.
