Hi guys,

I've just seen some crazy laser prices on this website. I'm sure most are complete rubbish as they even have 50W lasers on sale for under $10.00

The whole thing is just too good to be true. Anyway, what's the deal with this site and what can one expect when order one of these ridiculously cheap laser from them?

The host has sec key switch with 2 keys so I figured if anything, I'll be able to harvest the host for my other lasers that currently sit in plastic kit boxes.

Any thoughts, feedback, comments please?

Thanks.

Yeah it's common for chinese sellers to fib and misrepresent their products. You're gut instinct is right about that ;) Alibaba is a site that is used by thousands of companies. Some don't mislead, but most do, so buyer beware.

Like everything in ALiexpress is fake. I have not ever seen a legit-looking listing on there.

Well both sites each have their own advantages.

Alibaba for instance is a good way to get in touch with chinese sellers for bulk orders or when you want to contact the specific companies directly.

Aliexpress is good for people who want just one item and not the minimum requirement for an order. You can also get in contact with companies on aliexpress but I see that it's made more up of retailers rather than manufacturers. I could be wrong since I didn't actually run a study on that :p

TBH both sites function great. It's the honesty of certain chinese sellers that's the problem but with a little bit of knowledge you can filter them out. Seller ratings has served me well too. Always buy from a company that has done a lot of transactions and have great feedback if you can help it.

For some reason they either purposefully lie about laser output or they don't know any better. Like a miscommunication with the sales department and the maintenance section of the factory or something.

Neither Alibaba or AliExpress should ever be listed in the deals and discounts section. It's like just linking to eBay or Amazon for a "deal." They're just way too generic. If you have a particular seller that you have done business with personally and it was a good deal, great, post that, but don't post just Alibaba or Aliexpress.

Not everything there is fake. I know Gray from Jet Lasers has posted stuff there before and I think a few other reputable sellers has as well but as always with sites like that caveat emptor.

Depends what you're looking for. I wouldn't buy a consumer product listed on Aliexpress, but it's been a great source for bulk metric hardware and integrated circuits. That's the kind of thing it's good for.

Not everybody - I've been using aliexpress a lot (10 orders) recently. I've been very happy with all orders so far (apart from the waiting!)

Here's a thread a I created about buying a 10mW 445nm pen laser.

hmm hmm at least Aliexpress has a good buyer protection system. Anyway, I've always wanted a green 523nm laser so I've bought one. 50,000mW for just $8 surely can't go wrong :p

On a serious note, the laser that I'm referring to is listed as 50,000mW everywhere, but it's a very common 1W green laser in that black host with key switch. $8 for 1W is a bargain, if anything the host can be stripped and used for a proper laser build. Heck at least I'll have a use for that space 18650 battery sitting around in my drawer :)

I agree, you can't lose when it only costs $8, but it's very very unlikely to be 1W.

The specs for lasers sold on AliExpress are 99% make believe.

PS There are no very common 1W 532nm green lasers. 532nm green run approx $1 per mW sometimes a little less.

see: 100mW TO 800MW PL-E Pro 532nm Green Lasers

What do you expect for the price of 2 cups of coffee at Starbucks including shipping?

lol that's one hell of a battery if it can provide enough current for that power level :D

Hahahaha it's not impossible. The IMR type 18650 Li-Ion cells can have a discharge rate of 10C thus you could draw 15Amps. 15 x 4v = 60 Watts. Theoretically possible :)

Hi guys,

I've received this 50,000mW laser from AliExpress today. I was going to write a review about it, but then I've found the item listed and sold accurately here:

100mW 532nm New Flashlight Style Green Laser Pointer Pen with 18650 Battery at Laserpointerpro.com

So it turns out it's only 100mW.

Can it burn? Barely... It's very difficult to focus to a tiny spot and once it's right there it can burn black stuff with lots of patience.

Beam pattern? Completely rubbish and messed up.

Safety? It's got a removable diffraction grating that puts out some squarish pattern. Leave this on to prevent accidental injury should it come on accidentally.

What about the key on the tail cap? This is the best invention ever!! The tumbler lock only requires the key to turn it to the safe (off) position. The lock can be simply rotated to the green (on) position without the key.

I guess that says it all. What good is it??? It's my first green laser pointer and at only £7 I would have bought it anyway just to complete my collection of wavelengths.

Another one for AliExpress, check out my "True 300mw Output" greenie bought over Xmas.

Yes the diode is so badly mounted at an angle that it bounces part of the beam off the metal insides of the collimating lens.

Oh and is 80mW tops. Yes I know the cat should probably be wearing safety goggles.
