*Curious* Which is the most difficult wavelength to produce?

Just was curious as to which wavelength of laser light is the MOST complicated to produce. I originally was thinking 593.5(due to 1% efficiency) or 500.8nm(since I saw it's only available at 1mW/2mW) but Im guessing this is way off.

Which one is it? If possible explain why also :)

Microwaves and xrays, because IIRC it can only be done with a free electron laser.

Yep. Been looking to make a maser as the principles are pretty much the same as lasers. Unfortunately creating the microwaves are extremely difficult.

You could slap mirrors on the inside of this and get a massive lens.

Oh man, I want a handheld for that and pop some corn somewhere!
(Disregarding the need for the amount of power needed as well :D )

355 nm might be a tough one if its price is anything to go off of. 4500$ for 1 mW.

Wow. 500nm isn't real attractive, either. It's a sickly
blue/green color. I have a 500nm LED and it almost
makes you sick to your stomach.

Are you talking handheld or in general? "Difficult" is a loose term when form factor and money are no object. Maybe you should scope this to handheld, self contained lasers in the visible range as a better question... or was that implied?
