Yup, I suspect similar, but this way if you do it and post it here, we have a definitive reference for average and outlier outputs that we can use as a reference for output power maintenance over the years. Thanks!

Although I could not be part of the group buy I did get one last week and when tested on my X4 Radiant power meter it peaked at only 46mW. Disappointed that it did not even reach the advertised 50mW. :(

Mine is VERY sensitive to temperature and battery voltage/current capacity. Keep in mind these lasers draw a bit over 2 amps from a single cell, so cheap 18650s won't do. If the laser housing is over 75F mine won't do >50mW. If it is 60F or lower it peaks above 90mW.

Oh they are that sensitive! I am using a good quality panasonic but as the log burner is going at this time of year I guess the temp in here would be around the 75 or above. So when I use it outside at this time of year it will probably be doing better. I am having trouble trying to download Peregrine LPM interface but when and if I can I might get a clearer picture of the output!
Thanks Sigurthr.

Great news guys, these little jewels are so close to each other that i dont believe it makes a rip of a difference who gets what. They all peaked above 100mw after about 10-15 seconds and held above 90mw for 30 more seconds. I did not pay any attention to the serial numbers when i did these tests, just laid them all out and used completely charged HO IMR 18650's (light green ones). The outputs were 108, 109, 109,111, 112, and 115. I don't think there would be any squabbling over who gets what on these. I suspect a battery swap and you'd get completely different results. This is right in line with my original one. Every one of them performs almost identical.

If you don't already have a high quality 18650 I highky recommend you pick one up from the guy here on the forum that sells them, can't remember his screen name at the monent, but i believe it has "DFW" in it, or has something to do with Dallas. They arewhat i use almost exclusively. I have checked my output on mine with various cells and this one is far superior to the rest of them in terms of output. So, if you've got you own LPM and you meter yours when you get it, keep in mind the conditions. All from a cold start, very first run on a fresh HO battery, measured on a NoSpin Ophir. You should get very similar results. I doubt anyone will come in under 100mW. Some were a little faster getting there, one went there almost immediately. The rest took about 10 seconds. Again, i suspect the battery is the biggest variable here.

First batch hit a home run and I suspect the second batch will do the same. Will be mailing out the first five who paid first tomorrow. Will provide tracking at request. Most should receive them in about two to three days.

Other than a little hiccup on the overseas snail mail, all has been smooth sailing thus far.

I am really happy for you guys. Everyone will be getting a top notch output and beam profile so far. Too bad all of them aren't here at once. I would take a couple cool pictures of all 11 running at once. May do it with the first batch just for grins.

Cheers!

Be sure to shoot Adam a nice email when everyone gets theirs. He has been such a plesure to work with, it may do us all a bit of good to show him a small token of appreciation. Just thinking forward to the next GB on these.

One other quick little tidbit, the BE have very low losses. Maybe 5% or less by observation. Hard to tell exactly due to the variability in ouput on these.

Thanks for the update, Jeff. I appreciate your professionalism throughout this GB experience. I'm very much looking forward to receiving my unit this week.

Please let me know if the extra $ I PP'd you doesn't square the fee balance you mentioned. I'm willing to pitch in on your wire fees if you want.

@ busman2 and sigurthr, I've also noticed the same phenomenon with my PGL-589, it has dropped to less than 50mW on occasion.
Temperature seems to be the largest factor with mine; cooler is definitely better!
I've had real good luck using only panasonic 3400mAh batteries in mine.

@ Jmillerdoc, great news on the high, consistant outputs on the 1st batch, hoping the 2nd ones come in with similar results. :yh:

I kind of wish that it was that way with mine. Warm temps. seems easier to achieve than trying to keep them cool.

Which 593.5nm do you own? They might use a different crystal set in the bigger PGL-III-C hosts than in the GLP pens.

I was talking about my 589nm ( I wish I also had a 593.5nm), it is the one from your GB last summer. It's the one in my sig.

589nm is a different pair of shoes. Mine likes it cool up to about 68-70° F for running at full power.

Btw, Adam might be able to help hosting CNI GB as well. Getting us better prices than we would get directly from CNI. He told me the other day.
