LPM's with better response time?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but are there any affordable LPM's out there with response time at least half as good as an Ophir? Preferably one that goes up to 5W. I'm tight on money right now and am considering selling my Ophir and picking up something less expensive, but from what I've seen laserbees and such take way too long before it shows the correct wattage.

Any TEC based hobby LPM's are pretty slow, around 15s even for the small 8x8mm TEC's.

The Ophir heads are around $600 new. They are the best deal going and you won't see comparable performance from a more affordable TEC based LPM.

Also, the highest power TEC based LPM's have at the moment is 3.7W from the Radiant X4 ($100) or laserbee USB ($280).

See my comparison chart for more details.

Ah, so not that much has changed since I last kept up with laser stuff. I guess I'll hold on to my Ophir/ARGMeter v1.1 then.

so the rubicon only measures upto 95% of the lasers output? or it does but it takes longer than 0.8 sec?

I see from your chart that only the laserbees are rated for 0-100%?

The radiant measures up to 100%, but just takes longer than 25 seconds.

On a different note, I vote for a sticky for ARG's google doc. People have been asking this same question (or a similar one) quite a bit recently.

Everything reads up to 100%, but typically manufacturers such as Ophir rate the response times for 95%.
The Rubicon utilizes an Ophir head, so we got the numbers for our response time from their data sheet.

I wouldn't mind seeing it stuck either, or some other info thread that covers more of the basics. I included some information on what everything means as well as the comparison chart - I keep it up to date regularly so that the chart is accurate. :)
