Fasttechs 'Express shipping only' policy?

I was just browsing FT with the intent of buying some panasonic batteries since FT has one of the cheapest prices on authentic cells...

But now, every single battery on their site has this new 'express shipping only' tag. This means that every battery you buy has to be shipped via express shipping, which to Australia is VERY expensive. Their reason is that express shipping is 'safer' and more reliable.

Fasttech said:
Why do some items show EXPRESS SHIPPING ONLY?

FastTech offers FREE worldwide shipping on pretty much everything, with the exception of a handful of products that are custom-made, special ordered, rare and valuable, or fragile.

These special items display a EXPRESS SHIPPING ONLY badge on product pages and can only be shipped with Global Express shipping service.

I've ordered plenty of batteries from FT and not one of them has arrived damaged. Right now if I wanted to buy a pair of sanyo's from FT for $12 the new policy requires it to be shipped via express post which adds an extra $20 to the order.

Sure express post is faster (obviously), but I can't justify spending $20 just for shipping on two batteries. I will now be looking for other sources for authentic cells.

I'm not sure whether this policy is only for Australia and this may not apply to the US or other countries. EDIT: Apparently it does.

What are your thoughts on this? Are there any other places that have authentic cells for a reasonable price?

Re: Fasttech's 'Express shipping only' policy?

its due to hongkong post and other budget mail services and problems with sending li-ion batteries. this has been known for roughly two months. Registered mail routed to various countries is the only option they found around this and until recently that wasnt even 100%

FYI its any country, not just you Aussies. I had to have my 3400mAh sent to Germany and then routed to the states. Still havent got them yet and its almost 30 days (they are in NY)

You said that it has been 30 days and you still haven't received them. Was that from FT and what shipping option did you choose?

Didnt know it affected others as well.

It was from Banggoods but that doesnt matter. Its the shipping service that caused these issues not the company. HKP is not shipping and li-ion batteries and same with other services. I used registered post that routed the package through Germany. Its been sitting in customs for about a week

I had to get a refund on my last FT purchase since i think HKP lost the package or something

So if I where to order batteries or anything for that matter at FT with express shipping post, would it be sensible to believe their 8 business day shipping estimate? Or would it be much longer than that?

Hello Will,

You can check out website:

https://www.all-battery.com/cart.aspx

Very great batteries for a cheap price, only catch is the minimum order but be of at least $10, but always worth a try. Goodluck :)

Thanks :)

Hey livinloud! Seems like you know about the shipping problems lately?

I have trouble receiving orders from dx and chinese ebay sellers lately. What seems to be the problem with hongkongpost? And why?

Thanks in advance

Re: Fasttech's 'Express shipping only' policy?

Transporting li-ion batteries are very restricted now. They must be put in a container or in the device self. Loose batteries are not allowed to ship anymore. The post companies use X-rays to scan the packages and if they find something that looks like li-ion batteries then the package will be returned.

I have recently got a refund of the 26650 batteries that I had ordered from Fasttech. The shipment was returned.

Re: Fasttech's 'Express shipping only' policy?

ORF, there has been a ton of issues with Li-Ion shipments and they have caused fires in airplanes while in transit. As Blord said, Li-Ion are not allowed to be shipped anymore unless they are in a device or container. Afaik you can order batteries from FT and a cheap light, ask them to put the batteries in the light and they will. Not sure about other sellers but thats what ive read about FT.

The whole thought of express shipping is that it goes through the "scanning" faster and the hope is that they wont catch it. Thats what i am under the impression, could be wrong on that logic but thats what ive read. There is multiple topics about this over on BLF and thats were ive read most of this. FT has a few reps over on BLF thats have been keeping us in the loop

Not to get too far off topic, but speaking of Fasttech, do they have any current discount codes in effect . I haven't ordered from them in a while; not sure what works and what doesn't. :)
