Good news, everyone!

The Envies are here! I've received the hosts from Customs, and it seems they survived pretty well.

Shipment will be taking place as soon as possible. Be patient, boys and girls...they're almost in your little hands.

Excellent news. Since I'm just a few states up US-75 from you maybe it'll be here for the weekend depending on when it gets reshipped. Can't wait to get it as that 520nm diode produces an amazing color!

Re: All Gone: The MS-Envy - 18650 Custom Host

Received my 445 9mm diode from DTR yesterday.

Thing looks like a beast! I'm ready to put this whole thing together and see what it can do!

Re: All Gone: The MS-Envy - 18650 Custom Host (Restocking ETA 9.20.13)

so i had to go buy a cheap soldering iron since i couldnt find my old one after moving into my house.... i got a $10 30w walmart special that came with a small .5oz tube of solder. i fire it up the other day to get a little practice soldering some wires b4 my envy arrives... and man i gotta say, stay away from the lead free solder!! this junk requires so much more heat to flow its ridiculous... im on my way to radioshack for some 60/40 right now!

Re: All Gone: The MS-Envy - 18650 Custom Host (Restocking ETA 9.20.13)

Over the year i have purchased several types of solder but the hardest/PITA was the lead-free hands-down the useless solder for our application, A little flux makes it a bit better but takes much more time to work with these..

I also recently bought a HAKKO RED 40W as a spare, I am very impressed by the quality and it does have a ground pin so its perfectly safe for laser diodes. Heats up in less than 15s (max 20s) Im using is instead of my 25W regular one, and simply loving it
Just a heads up, they are not temperature controlled and run a bit hot (370C measured) and peaks (400C) , I had to turn on the fan since the heatink element was glowing red..

They are anywhere from $15.00 to $29.00 depending on the seller.. For a cheap soldering iron this thing works like a charm!

They are being finalized, I have forwarded the details and addresses to SBA for shipping, Just needs to verify the current settings on all drivers before they are shipped, It is a complicated process needless to say "Most of the work" is wiring and heatsinking the driver, I make sure everything is put togather before the you fellas recieve my hosts, Then there isnt much left to do at your end except for attaching the leads and FirePower :gun:

Re: All Gone: The MS-Envy - 18650 Custom Host (Restocking)

Can't wait to get my host. I've been messing with my 520 diode a bit using the head assembly from another host and my bench supply. I'm tempted to desolder the driver from the diode and mount it to the pill in the host. Going to have to wait and see how it runs once it's in a more beefy heatsink before doing anything drastic like that.
