I kinda agree. If I were to build with one of those diodes I would likely use a Minisabre V2 or something like that. Something you can't already get with a DPSS.

You can't get a 473nm pen that operates off of AAA's.

Only fat CR2 ones (which I find ugly)

There are more powerful DPSS handhelds, but they are not this small. The smallest 473nm handheld I can think of is the CNI CR2 which is not a very pretty host IMO. :D Plus this thing is waaaay more efficient.

And you can't get 476nm except from an ML/tunable argon ;)

Awesome build! :D I would love to have one of these. :D No way I would even trust myself with a diode this expensive though. :p Hopefully many more of these get made and sold on the forum. :D


Finally a ~473 pen alternative to that UGLY CR2 host one. I would much rather have one that a bit less powerful in a nice AAA leadlight host, than have more power and have use crappy old CR2 batteries in what is probably the ugliest host of all.

Is the beam visible at night without fog?

If I had to take a guess I would say it would probably be a light visible beam. My 488nm at ~25mW makes a rather solid beam.

Hey styro why don't you try that little guy out with an Aixiz acrylic lens instead? You might get more power and a cleaner beam profile.

Yup, even more so than a 5mW green laser.

I dropped a PL520 in a polished one and its my favorite laser. It's also quite popular with people that see it.
