Start a new thread and post some pics. Without seeing it and getting a description of the problem, it will be rather difficult to diagnose whats wrong.

But the thing remains , if we don't change the trade system.
People are still gonna get scammed again and again.
Let it be Tony , marty ,Mary , Andy or DeeDee

Yup Ive tried to start a thread with scammers info in the Vets section to help tackle this. I do need more info though on other scammers...

BTW Tonyt's name, address, email etc is up there for all sellers to see.

Who cares ;)
He should have thought about that before scamming someone.

Well scamming is illegal in itself, isn't it?

It is , but the problem is without a proper legally recognized transaction medium , sueing is hard.
Private info unauthorized disclosure is easy.
Just saying.

He's a scumbag , but lets not give him chance to hit us back :poke:

Its not actually open for all to see ie you couldnt google it and see their names, because the list is actually private being in the vets section. Only vets and those with the direct link can see it and edit it. ;)

I did read somewhere that info passed on from a third party is somehow not subject to privacy regs, but I could be wrong. Ill have to try and find that info, it was related to whistle blowers and the media and was wrt private info made public...No one signed, or could be considered to have signed, any nondisclosure agreement with me either...;)

Thats part of the reason its in the vets section. So people's personal info isnt displayed for all to see.

I think him suing about that is unrealistic. Can I sue yellowpages for having my name, number, address online?

Also like others said, they are scammers who cares.

Yeah - like Ben just said, his address is already mapped to his name and phone number on many websites already.

I guess it still just boils down to a good old Roman phrase...

Very easy to bypass the privacy disclosure issue if we want to... all the vets just send each other $1.00 for consulting services... the information is then disclosed as part of the service we offer to each other.

Given the public nature of how the transactions originated, it's also questionable whether a user has any expectation to privacy.

Well considering they are using the internet... which in itself is a public medium from which (supposedly) everything disclosed through it is free and open to the public...

IS ownership legal though? If the Laser 5-0 dropped by my house and found my 2.5W MS-SSW with ZERO safety features would they be chill or would they get pissy because I am creating radiological devices which exceed the limits in place? Somehow....and this may be because every cop I have met likes to f*ck people over....I feel like they would be displeased.

Is there any way to permaban by IP address? So the system could run a check and disallow new members with IP addresses matching permabanned members?

Also, could the system be set up to make the age and location a required entry?

don't have a clue about that last part but Chris, the admin at the now dead laser forum (RIP) had it set up so every day a check was made for duplicate IPs and each Mod got a daily email report . So while not an auto perma ban at least we would be able to shut them down in a day or less.

I get a big laugh from the ones who came here and felt left out' as NOBODY would give then ANY + rep (even tho they PMed and ask for it) so what do they do?? open a second account and TRY to +rep themselves!!

ALSO IIRC there was an ongoing thread about a China company and how good their lasers were and customer support feedback. One member asked if they were good- did anyone buy a laser and found it a good deal.??.

The first reply came quick and they said they had no first hand knowledge but heard they were not very good..

THEN the third poster quickly posts that.. NO they were a GREAT company and had EXCELLENT customer service and high quality goods.

and they went on for some time with this discussion/argument for several more posts-- IIIRC admin or one of our Mods did an IP check and all three were very likely sitting next to one another--rotfl

doh!!
