Bad business with tonyt!!!

Well thats a shame , but the way I see it .
We need a middleman for this type of trade.

Both parties should send their goods to a trusted member of the forum , preferably far away from the customs nazi and not too expensive in shipping.

Then the middleman will sort out the trade. Once both of the items has been received.

That way it'll be MUCH more secure.

This is true but as we are all aware of its a real hassle with customs especially in Australia so if you can get a laser local you tend to chance it somewhat as at least you can see it in your hand and if your told the batteries are probably low making it drop out on the high power mode you try to take someone at face value,we did discuss if a fully charged battery didn't fix it that i could get my money back ( i have since fixed it as im an electronics technician but took me along time) and even if the driver board was iffy he would look into sorting it out .But ive only had one short txt from him and just an excuse he has been working and still is after 9 days and nothing since after another 2 plus weeks i asked him about the laser and from the reply i felt like i was the bad guy for asking, that's when i knew somethings wrong .If getting high power lasers wasn't so damn hard to get into the country, cloak and dagger stuff no batteries, call it a torch etc then most of the issues of dodgy deals on lasers wouldn't even happen.There may be issues on trades other than lasers which is what i believe you talking about in having second person involved , im just talking about laser deals for the reasons above.

well.... I'm not sure if that'll work , but since you're a qualified electrician .
Can't you hook yourself up with some external cavity laser?
Cos without the cavity , its just a really really bright LED

I think the problem may be when 3 parties are involved in say importing into Australia, if there is only one party inside Oz that is getting a laser from outside then it's a simple criminal offence, if there are two or more persons working together to get the laser into the country it becomes a criminal conspiracy and likely treated differently by the law.

True its bad enough as it is just getting a letter in the mail from customs saying they confiscated your laser and too bad how sad, leave it and nothing further will be done ,compared to the police at your door to arrest you for importing illegal items like a drug cartel

Hey Blaster if he sold you a dodgy laser, why did you then buy an LPM from him? Also if he was a scammer wouldnt he have simply walked off with your cash rather than actually send you the LPM. From what I can make out, it's "in my hands already and used already"?

It seems really strange, so has anyone else had good dealings with him? It might help restore some of his credibility and possibly encourage him to come back and discuss it. At the mo hes been slated and might be thinking screw you lot? :thinking:

He had his notebook with him and tested a laser to see if the LPM was working which it was no problem it was perfect (ie he had the LPM with him as well as the laser ) ,the laser was the problem .......I do see what you are saying though.I got the LPM first and then the laser there was a bit of a hurry up with the laser as he had to go as he lives on other side of the city..

Ah ok I thought it was the other way around you bought the laser then the LPM.

If you paid cash in hand and got the goods, we cant deduce much from it either. I was hoping you'd paid him via PP for the laser and he'd it shipped to you. :beer:

It's sad to see this, I received a PM from him a while ago about doing a laser build for him. I had quoted him and he immediately said "Sounds good, What's your bank info for payment".

He seemed legit to me, Never had a reason to doubt his credibility. But in saying that, I don't doubt for a slightest the OP's post. It's nothing new for people to turn rogue/ greedy.
