well i had a few dollars spare to test out the claims of suppliers on aliexpress.
this example is pathetic and comes from china fantasy, an apt name seeing that all of its claims are nothing but fantasy. i raised a dispute with aliexpress to try and deny china fantasy that hard earned 20 bucks because a claim of 1000mW green with focus........was expectedly bullsh*t.
ali asked for video evidence of my claim that the laser was WAY under 1000mW and had no focus. this is what i sent. could be better but i dont have an lpm.
now dont get me wrong, its a nice little pointer, good dot shape, collimated well.
in fact, for the money i would have been happy with it if they claimed 200mW no focus. but they are liars.
however this turns out i will continue to buy pointers and test the claims, just for fun.
i encourage you all to view the vid and leave comments there for aliexpress and the vendor to read.

Second... Did you really think that you would get
a 1000mW 532nm Laser for $20...:thinking:


A little reading and research on the Forum would
have let you know that the AliExpress seller was
lying about his output claims of his 532nm Laser.

Since I can't read the wording of the Item. The seller
could be telling the truth. A 1000mW Pump Diode
could give you a 200mW 532nm output.

No need to whine about it now. :cryyy:

thanks for the troll post laserbee. this is not about me crying over 20 bucks that could have bought me 4 cans of beer, its about trying to show these fake dealers up for what they are, and getting them removed from sites like aliexpress and ebay.
of course i never expected to get a 1w green, but they never expect people to pull them up on it.

i think that you might be surprised by the blue laser there that i got on alibaba for 60 dollar...me love it long time! indeed bargains can be had and its important to sort the wheat from the chaff so first time buyers dont have to spend a months salary to get a decent high powered laser.

of course we are far away from seeing budget greenies at 1w, after all they would need way over a watt to pump them.

point remains that while i am actually not so sad with the 20 dollar green because its bright, has a good dot, and was only 20 bucks..... my complaint is with the description. if you also disagree with outright lies in adverts, then get my back on youtube and show alibongo that people are aware whats going on. if you just want to puff yerself up and want to scare noobs into shelling out $300 $500 or more on a f..ing laserpointer because anything costing less is absolute rubbish then crawl back into your hole until you see some kids to scare. BOO!

ps, laserbee look at the reading i show on my video.
in case for some reason you cant, i measured .43 Amps drawn from a 3.7 (no load) lithium cell. now do the math....thats got to be one really efficient pump diode if it gives a 1w ir output.

and harly davisons are stupid bikes. my little suzuki slingshot was way faster.

I would not expect to much sympathy here my friend. This forum is a wealth of information on lasers, all you have to do is look. You have only yourself to blame on this one. You knew you were going to get ripped off, and you did it anyway. You're just making it worst crying about it.

Next, dude, first of all you need to stop using the word "china" as synonim with "bad quality".

China is a country, and in case you didn't know, every single laser component and somewhere around 100% to ALL electronic components are made or partially made over there, including the top-of-the-line multi thousand dollar lasers, tools which we use to assemble those lasers and cr*p we burn those lasers with.

Display you are looking at right now is made in China. Who gives a cr*p where it's made?

What matters is two things:
1) Who owns the factory. That tells you about quality control and final product delivery.
2) The price itself if you don't know who is the manufacturer.

$20 green laser is DESTINED to be sh*t. It's literally designed to be sh*t. You got EXACTLY what you payed for.

That aside, you went off to buy the laser of the website nobody on this entire forum heard about. We know about Dino, DX, Yourlaser and whatever the subsidiaries are, Kaidomain here and there if that even works by now.

And you went for some "Alibaba". Personally I never heard of it.

Two lessons learned today,

the laser i got was worth the money....but the point i try to make is advertising standards. i accept every firm in the world will lie to us for a dollar, but my crusade is to get them telling more believable lies.
alibaba is actually a good place to get stuff but its like ebay. they cant get the ridiculous ads removed till a complaint is raised. 20 $ is nothing unless your a starving child in africa (in which case i doubt your in the market for lasers) but who is to say that paying 200 wont land you exactly the same product.
i apologise profusely if anyone thought i overstated the country of origin in a derogatory manner, i meant exactly the opposite. the two pointers i compared the little green thing are both very good value for money and well built. i wished to show the standard of excellence and value i have come to expect from china. of course any non chinese company making lasers are doing no more than gluing the same chinese parts in a prettier metal tube and tweaking the power to a given number, and certainly demanding a huge premium for the work.
the tendency in chinese adverts to the lower end of the market is to puke a word salad copied from better firms without even understanding the ingrish they pasted. they must be desperate for staff because i believe the chinese are in general a very well educated and disciplined bunch with cosmopolitan language skills.

Heh, I don't drink beer anyway so I have no idea, just thought it's bit expensive but I heard that Guiness is like, best there is so I guess there's that.

In any event, your options boil down to raising a paypal dispute and paying about 3x laser's original worth for shipping back and restocking fees, or giving up on the dispute and play with the laser you got.

If you keep it, you can take it apart later and maybe learn about inner workings or experiment with it as you see fit.

And it takes a bit of experience to properly read the laser advertisements between the lines. After a while you begin to truly see what exactly is being sold, simply by seeing in what way the ad is written, what images are used, and ofcourse the price you pay. You'll get it after a while, don't worry! For now, if you wanna good laser, best option is Lazerer, or some of lasers built around here.

That is if you're still looking for one. Dig into the Buy Sell Trade sections, I'm sure you can find something that will fit your budget.
