Hello

I ordered a Green laser from Lazerer almost two weeks ago, and made the payment on Tuesday of last week. I am in Canada and made the payment through Western Union.

This one:
LZCS - Classic 532nm 100mW Focusable Green Laser Pointer

It's been more than a week that I sent the payment through WU, with all the correct infos, and a week later they finally sent me a reply to my message asking them confirmation on the payment.... saying my message was sent to some "juck" (sic) email account and they'd send somebody to get the payment and they would send me a confirmation later. It seems that I really sent the payment confirmation at the wrong email, but still it's getting long...

I have growing concerns they may not be as reliable as I presumed, so I wanted to let you people here know.

What do you think?

thanks

There have been a fair share of good and bad experiences with Lazerer, so you'll just have to depend on your luck. However, monitor it closely and file a dispute in Paypal once it's reached 40 days and you haven't received your laser. It's the best you can do to protect yourself, and will either get you a refund, or a re-ship. That's the "buyer protection" at work! Good luck!

Oops, my bad, sorry.
I'm not at all familiar with WU, but if they do have some buyer protection or similar, it'd be wise to check that out asap to see what action you might need to take.

i would NEVER use WU again. i used it once to a seller i trusted but that would be the one and only time i use WU. should have used PP and contacted max to set that up for you. how did you get the info on where to send the WU to?

Okay, it seems that it's partly due to my mistake of writing "China" as country of destination rather than "Hong Kong".

Some sort of funny political confusion given that I assumed Hong Kong was back into China, while it's still an autonomous City-State, although linked to the State of China in some ways.

This should be a detail to remember for anyone ordering stuff from HK through Western Union.

Hopefully the rest of the exchange will encounter no problems. Hopefully... :D

I'll keep you informed on it.

Got your reply after I did the new payment.

From an account at lazerer@gmail.com, which seems to be their old junk mail account. The former receiver's name is not Max, so I'm wondering. Hopefully there isn't a third party scamming transactions with Lazerer... do you think there would be?

I don't have a Paypal account, which made the options scarce.

Max actually saw this post and responded to me about it in his email i sent regarding a different question. he said the WU address is a personal address not a company so please dont share this information. i dont think its a scam at all but i still dont like WU for the lack of protection. i wouldnt have a problem sending lazerer a WU since ive dealt with them before and trust them but wouldnt use it with a new company.

i think your money is safe and everything went through fine, keep us posted :)

Of course, personal anonymity is a sacred value on the nets, unless provided with a diamond-solid reason.

My experience with Chinese businesses was always top-notch as of now, and my biggest concerns actually are with the Canadian customs. Nothing's illegal in what I ordered as far as I know, so we'll see!

yeah i am the same way, privacy over personal info is KEY! afaik you should be fine with customs since it wont be claimed as a laser and thus less likely to be checked by customs

I'm glad everything's working out for you so far. Please do try to get a Paypal account. Their buyer protection is a must if you intend to purchase online often. You can link them to banks too you know...(not just a credit card)

So I received the package yesterday, and that what pretty quick for the low shipping costs!

Laser pointer works top-notch! Charger's not great quality, but good enough to charge a 18650 lithium cell taken from a laptop battery, which works perfect in the laser.

Al points out that Lazerer is a good business, and I'll consider ordering from/referring other people to in the future.

:san:

Now I'll have to get some protection glasses for this, I suppose...
