Why it would suddenly stop working?

Well I put my 532nm ebay laser module(diode, lens, etc) into the host of a typical lazerer laser. It worked fine, until boom it doesn't turn on anymore.

The battery works fine, fully charged. 3.7v 18650 battery. It's placed in the right way, the keylock on the tailcap is unlocked, etc. Everything is the way its supposed to be.

Weird thing is it worked fine until I put it on my desk, picked it back up a few minutes later and nothing works now! Haven't damaged/dropped it...

So my question: Is it broken, or am I forgetting something?

A fully charged 18560 battery will read close to 4.2V.

1) Maybe your battery is not fully charged or it droops
when power is applied.

2) Maybe you have an intermittent or open circuit to the
Driver

3) Maybe the crystals have become misaligned.
4) Maybe your driver is dead.
5) Maybe your Pump Diode is dead...

It's just weird that it could break without a change in environment, etc... Same battery, etc... I doubt the crystals became misaligned after the laser sat on the table and had NO shock whatever...

I guess the diode is dead :p

As Jerry stated, a fully charged rechargable lithium cell can be at 4.2 volts. Some 532nm DPSS modules can handle the higher voltage of a fully charged lithium cell, many cannot. Most were intended to run from a pair of 1.5V alkaline cells in series. The typical chinese modules have a driver that is designed to run from 2.7 to 3.3 volts. Some of those pointer drivers that I've researched publish a maximum of 3.2 volts in the specs. Current regulation goes out the window if you exceed the voltage limit. IR diodes die, drivers die, ect. You can put rectifier diodes in series with the power input to bring the voltage down to an acceptable limit. Personally, when I shop for those drivers, I buy the ones that are rated for 3.0 - 5.5 volts. They cost more but have a wider range of adjustability in the current regulator.

That's a darned shame, Red Dart. It looks like you and I are having similar luck this week. Greens are not in my skill set, so I can't help. But, I do empathize. I still cannot figure out how I became part of the circuit in my 445nm murder.

Much luck to you, comrade.

dont forget that you purchased it from ebay it could be faulty.
