What's the Diffrence between a 1W and 2W

Can someone clarify for me what are some of the differences I would notice between a 1W and 2W 445nm laser?

Is the stream that much more visible? Is the burning power double??? How much more visible is it? Things like that what can I expect?
 





From what I know the difference in visibility between 1W and 2W is minor, usually not enough to validate a price difference; you may see a bit brighter from the 2W, but it all comes down to the human eye's perception of the wavelength.

As for burning, power is power friend - 2W will ignite, 1W will burn.

One common misconception is thinking that 1 W is one half the 'power' or 'brightness' of a 2W.. in the case of lasers it does not work that way.
Also comparing different wavelengths is not always easy. Even with the 'brighter' 635nm reds you need around 1W to balance with only 300-500 mW of 532.
With the darker reds likw 650 nm you would need evn more to make a white laser.

AND... our eyes see differently than the lens of a camera or even between two diferent people. If the camera does auto metering of the light you will see almost no 405 in the same photo at the same time with 532 or 445. Violet and red lasers are drowned out in many pics when shown with 532 and /or 445.
but to answer your other question- the 'stream'( more correctly the beam) of a green laser is much more visible than other wavelengths- other factors like fog/smoke/ mist/ dust etc makes the beam much more visible too.

A rule of thumb is roughly 4 times the power for double the brightness, so the brightness increase from 1W to 2W is not much, especially seeing as your eyes are already usually saturated from so much light.
 
The Optical Energy Difference is DOUBLE.. You will be getting twice the photons out of that aperture..

I hope my laser doesnt make noises while flames shoot out of it!

Plastic... Keyboard, cell phone, cigarettes box... I have a video where you can hear it making the little explosions while flames jump out :)

It does make that type of ignition only on wooden/laminated surfaces where it needs to penetrate to obtain a deeper burn mark , but it is so nominal the sound can barely be heard or unless the room as pindrop silence..

It's true! I wouldn't call them explosions, but rather little "puffftt" sounds. This usually happens with wood and only when the dot is focused as small as possible.

I know what you mean. Mine makes a pop sound went hiting laminated surfaces and when on black plastics. It ignights
