ive actually tried it before.. its actually pretty hard since you end up blowing it away before you freeze anything.. if you can keep it contained it works verry well.. Ive got my hands on some liquid nitrogen which works better dropped a cockroach in there for about 30 seconds turned him as brittle as a chip.

Also if you get some rubbing alcohol and some dry ice..

-grab a 2 litter bottle cut in half bottom/top
-place a cup or topless container with holes around the outside and bottom (like a colander) inside the bottom 1/2 of the empty 2L soda bottle. *best to have a container with a diameter about half that of the 2 litter bottle.*
-fill the space between the container and the bottle with dry ice pack as much in as you can but make sure the ice is larger than the holes in the container.
-Add the alcohol to the containers so it fills the inner container to a good level to dip stuff into it..

You'll need to add more dry ice to keep it cooling to descent temperature for flash freezing..

In time you'll have a nice pool to dip objects into to freeze... this is much more dangerous than liquid nitrogen!!! because liquid nitrogen will simply roll off your hand due to the liden frost effect. however the temperature difference of the rubbing alcohol and your hand will not produce this effect and will stick to your hand causing some serious damage.

None the less you can dip spiders or other objects into it to freeze stuff nicely. almost to the point which they become super brittle.

Also ethanol will probably work best in concentration as opposed to Isopropel (rubbing alcohol) however vodka is a low concentration although it will get very cold it wont produce the best results as its on average about 60% water.

on the flip side i know for a fact that a can of WD40 and a blow torch does a nice job using heat. then again the blowtorch alone will produce similar effects =/

Actually these also eat spiders... When I moved into our new house, I was seeing at least one every other day..

The adults are up to 3-4in in length, move very fast and live up to 7 YEARS!! The population can quickly explode in the matter of months...

They can also sting, but are not known to be able to penetrate human skin. There is question however that they may be able to sting young kids. I have a 13 month old and another on the way. With kids in the house, I do not want to use chem sprays, nor have bugs crawling on my family.

I have found with that killing these off, there have been more spiders, but the glue boards are taking care of both.

An interesting note, if you read up on these throughout the internet, you will notice a common question. Many people think that a second bug will come after you when you kill another.. People commonly end up seeing a second bug almost every time after they kill one.

I have noticed that they seem to keep in pairs. Very odd for an insect.

The good part of using glue boards is you trap food for them. They see their prey wiggling and moving while stuck to the glue board. So instinctively, the give chase, only to get stuck themselves

They are attracted to movement, so the scents on the glue boards does nothing...

yep I have these in my house and I hate them - I always see them in the basement

they do go in pairs, and thats strange for sure

I think its even stranger that when I kill a large one within a day or 2 I will see a smaller one running around and will kill that one, then a even smaller one will come out - then about 2 weeks to a month or so I will see another large one and the cycle continues - I think that when I kill a large one the smaller one that comes out is like the second in command of the group and its up to that one to go and get food or whatever

I got a friend who says I should get a large spider and set it loose like a taranchula and it will kill them all off, I am not so sure about this but I want to try it

"Australia! Where spiders are so big they have health bars" something to that effect.

Do you guys in Australia really encounter 20cm tarantulas on daily basis?

Lasers just aren't really a viable option for pest control. Having attempted this first hand for a little wasp issue there are a few key problems with this method of removal...

1. Target will not hold still and will immediately try to get out of the beam.
2. As target moves focus will change, not possible to keep up with it.
3. Most likely you have pissed off your target (angry spiders).

In most cases you need a good 2-3 seconds of focused beam on the target in order to kill it. Since it is constantly squirming it is very difficult to get a good solid 2-3 seconds on target. To top that off your focus is constantly changing as the target moves, making it so you actually need more than the original 2-3 seconds since you are not perfectly focused on your target.

Since you end up spending so much time chasing your target around with the laser it ends up being more cruel than effective. The same old methods for pest control are still the best, use a flyswatter, shoe, etc... it's much faster and much more effective.

Luckily we dont have those centipedes or huntsman spiders here. We do have these though. YouTube - Female Wolf Spider With Babies On Her Back . Wolf spiders are wicked fast and can walk on water. Little jesus spiders. I remember walking out in to a flooded area to help my friend pull his quad out. I looked down and the water surface was just a writing mass of them, watching them run up my legs like they were consuming me nearly made me pee myself.

My favorite device for crawly destruction is still the portable handheld tesla coil. Nothing beats it. Just be careful to not ruin all of your electronics. Ive killed several TV remotes, a few watches, a VCR, etc...

On that note, my sleep was RUINED just the other night. Around 1 AM my middle toe on my left foot started itching like crazy! being as there is no good way to scratch a toe, especially the end of one, I had to get up wait for it to stop in a hot shower. Low and behold, upon closer inspection... a big red spider bite.

This thread should have been called Slaysers.

I prefer the vacuum or double sided tape. Easier than using a bug zapper. It's not work the effort to zap them. They're pretty damn fast.

I have killed a few Wolf spiders they always get threw my window but are stuck because of the screen mesh. I used my 1W arctic, It is kinda cool how they put there 2 front legs up and try to defend themselves. I don't feel bad because I really hate spiders.

:crackup::crackup::crackup:

LOL, I agree.
Why would you want to kill them? Just throw them outside, or throw them at your neighbour...

You obviously don't understand what it means to have a phobia. It's not about not understanding that some spiders are not dangerous.

It's a subconcious reflex and reaction I have no control over, no matter how much would I like to.

I'm pretty sure you can understand that if you have any of the phobias recognised by modern society.

So you can keep preaching altruism all you want, I'm still crushing that motherf***er and all it's freaking eight legs with size 14. I'll make sure to take it out afterwards!

First off, spiders mean there are insects. They are hunters after all. I got rid of all my spiders by cutting the brushes and brush 6" away from the house. The insects stopped coming in and so did the spiders.

That being said... a high energy 1064nm pulsed laser might do it :D. Like the famous SSY-1. Focus that baby and POP! goes the weasel. But, seriously, spiders are your friends and are only there because you have an insect infestation. You would be exterminating the exterminators. Not in your best interest.

Yep I have heard it said that if there were no spiders in the world we would be knee deep in bugs by this time

Good idea to clean out around the house and keep the bugs away and the spiders will follow :)
