That is good news that she is responding. I really hope she comes through for us. Of course I want our projectors to work, but I also hope that Winni is what she appears to be and that we can count on her to get this right.

I don't know why the KTP would give non-blanked artifacts.

I guess hopefully worst case (for me anyway) I could just replace my green module with a quality one and still have a working projector. Hopefully.

Bummer. I know part of the deal with these prices is that we are gambling on quality, but the green module seems like a fairly sorted out part of a laser projector kit.

:(

I got a reply from Winni, she will send me a replacement green module if I send the faulty one back to her. I asked her if I would have to pay the shipping costs, just waiting on a reply now.

Edit: Got another email from Winni, she will be paying for the return shipping of the module, and will send me a new one with DHL :D

That is great news!

Do you think you will have to realign any of the mirrors after you switch out the module though?

Hopefully just by replacing the laser, you will have to line it up - but I would assume/hope the dichros/mirrors would be ok. If you can get the new laser lined up the same as the old then that would make sense.

Hopefully shipping on the laser module is relatively cheap - it isn't very big or heavy...

Let us know what happens. I need to update my situation.

I haven't been able to duplicate my problem. I was playing with some quick trace patterns that may have had bad traces that looked like the blanking problem. I'm not SURE of that because I really thought that I was getting some whack looking green traces at one point, but whatever the problem - it hasn't happened again in several hours or operation...

So I am hoping for the best. I definitely don't have any reason to try and replace anything right now.

I DO need to measure output and get it up here. I feel bad for you that you have had such a hassle and if I don't end up with the green module problem, then my situation has been pretty smooth.

Probably, and I don't look forward to it. I don't think it will be that hard though, probably only a small amount of alignment to be done.

The shipping cost to China may be a problem though. I think it's more than the module is worth (to them). Canada Post wants 45$ without a tracking number, so there is no guarantee it gets there or 76$ with a tracking number. It's such a small module, and it's less than 500g! I hate Canada Post!

Try to display the blanking test pattern in Green only. You have to download the .ild file for it from the PL FTP, then in the setting on the right do green only. If you don't have a problem with that frame it should be fine.

You might be better off just paying for the module rather than sending it back... that stinks. I think it is a pretty raw deal that they make you send it back when it is CLEARLY not a scam you are pulling and clearly way too expensive to ship.

I'd press the issue. See what your options are, because right now Winni isn't going to inspire any LPF'ers to buy from goldenstarlaser.com if this is the best they can do on resolution. Who wants to take that kind of gamble when the reds aren't up to spec, and one of the greens failed and YOU have to pick up the tab on expensive shipping back?

Not a good outcome right now IMHO. They should do better...

More good news :) Since shipping was so much Winni told me to keep the defective module and she'll send me a new one without having to return it. She is also sending me a new rubber foot for the flight case to replace the one that DHL lost during shipping.

The green module was all I really cared about getting fixed. The red isn't a huge deal since I'm not going to be doing much graphics with these and it can be improved later by cropping the beam, and that will create a much better white. The power isn't an issue either since the white balance is already pinkish.

All in all, I'm really happy that Winni was able to fix the problem with the green module and the flight case foot with no extra cost to me. I'm very pleased with the customer service.

That is great news. I am looking at getting a PJ from them. This is the way a business should be run. Good job Winni and Goldenstar Laser.

I haven't updated this thread is a while, so here's a brief one.

I got the replacement module from Winni. Had to pay 13$ at the door and 20$ for the shipping.
As I said in the review:
This will be a paint in the a** if the projector ever needs realignment, but they are bolted down really tight and are glued down. If they can survive the bumpy trip from China and still stay aligned I am confident that they will last a while. If I ever have to re-algin them though I may as well throw them out and buy 3-aixis mounts.
So alignment is a huge problem at the moment. I don't know how they do it originally.

I go to align the projector today, and now the module I got as a replacement is dead too.

I got this as a budget projector, and now it's costing so much time and money to fix. The "G100" modules are junk. I will probably have to end up buying a new set of mounts, a new set of dichos and a new green module. Well over 200$+ in repairs, for a 350$ projector.

Man that just sucks. Two in a row. How is the other PJ holding up? They need to send out a new TESTED unit to you free of charge.

The other one works great :)

I tested the module that I took out and now it seems to be working fine... These modules are very flaky.

Working part time is not going to cut it. I might as well buy a reke 500 by the looks of these PJs. I was hoping for a better PJ from them:mad:

Having owned both the REKE and this PJ I can say that the REKE is much better. The only disadvantage is the slower galvo speeds.
