This is a feeler for a potential GB of 638nm Multi-Mode diodes:
The Mits.300mW which many of us know well, for $39 a piece :eg:
And also: the open case Mits.500mW diode, for $78 each :gun:

Please let me know (post or PM) what the interest levels in either of these diodes are. If it looks like enough to reach the minimum order (20pcs), then I will add an option for these in the second round of my Osram PL450B GB :beer:
 





Maybe I can save you a lot of effort as I know group buys are a ton of work. My 300mW diodes are currently $2 less for US residents on a single diode and even less than that in quantity than the price after shipping with the group buy and international order are $2 more after $6 shipping for two units and then less again in orders of more than two mainly because I have a large quantity I have been sitting on forever since the 500mW units came out and I am selling them under cost for the largest quantities just to get rid of them.

Also I am currently @ $800 with free US shipping on 10 500mW units and If you guys gave me an order of 20 or more I could do $76 a unit plus shipping of $2 US and $6 International.:beer:

:) I definitely had a feeling that this might happen.
DTR is right and he's also way better set up for shipping than I am :bowdown:
I'm withdrawing the 300s from the feeler, if you want any, I highly recommend getting them from DTR; he is the man :beer:

As for the 500s, we can forget my source and, if you're all willing, instead of DTR organizing his own GB, I could just help organize your orders into a total of at least 20 at $76 a unit + shipping, and then submit it to DTR (obviously you'd be sending the payment for those diodes directly to DTR, no sense feeding feePal twice)

If this happens then I am already in for one Mits.500 myself :D

DTR: how much would you sell the 110mw single-mode reds for if I got together an order of 20 on those as well?

That will work. Put together an order of 20 or more and then when ready have everyone send their funds in and I will ship them out.:)

I will have to look into it. Just ran out and looking to restock on the 110mW units. If you see some interest I can make a larger order. The more I buy the better the price gets. I had only been buying them 10 at a time as they don't move real quick.;)

cool, I will make a 'mits500 from DTR' spreadsheet at 76$ each with 2$ US shipping and 6$ international to compile the 20 units.

If you like, you can let me know about price @ 20 units for any other diode you carry, and I'll add a column for those as well.

Also if you can put on there if it is an international order over $250 it needs to be the tracked shipping for $35. That will only apply to orders of 4 or more and it is of course optional on all international orders.:beer:
 
DTR, if i take part in this GB, can i have you put leads on the diode for me and put it in a module with a glass lens?
 
Yep I will do any of the combos I offer on the site with that diode.;)
 
Well the 405's and these 635's are very different animals. Are you looking for something that has great power density or something that is visually bright?

Those are vastly different diodes; choosing between them depends on what you want your laser for: good looking spot? beam visibility? burn power? ease of build? power efficiency? price...
 
I think I am going to get a S06J. I want a good looking spot, power, beam visibility(I just want to be able to see it at all at night), and i only have low wavelength safety glasses. What is the max current I should power it at? Yes DTR, here comes another order ;)
