I think I am going to get a S06J. I want a good looking spot, power, beam visibility(I just want to be able to see it at all at night), and i only have low wavelength safety glasses. What is the max current I should power it at? Yes DTR, here comes another order
Edit: sorry for thread-jacking.
Just so you know: beam visibility will be many many times better with the 638nm, of course you should have safety glasses for all wavelengths that you work with... 405nm is at the very edge of human sight and visual response for it is about three hundred times lower than for 638nm red; a mitigating factor for this is that Rayleigh scattering works much better for lower wavelengths, which will help you see the violet beam at night. A red beam of equivalent power however will still appear much brighter.
For powering an S06J make sure you use a driver with a stable output; and it's probably best to keep it under 500mA; am I right guys?
