Hey all,
as you know, there are two versions of the UltraFire C3 (maybe more), the black anodized aluminum:

And silver stainless steel version:

Which one do you like better?

If this isnt a discussion on which id better than the other, i think its totally upto the user's own choice..
I like the silver , looks more elegant!

There's a minor difference in Stainless steel version, it has about 2 extra milimeters of space in the head for the laser assembly. I prefer to use those to place that glow-in-the-dark O-ring to be held by the heatsink.

I dunno, I think Stainless steel is my favorite.

Another vote for the SS version.

I use it as an EDC flashlight and is simply stunning. (Modded it with an XM-L)

Much better than the black version, but it all boils down to your opinion.

SS everyday of the week. Real quick question to Jerry....how is the black better exactly? I know you said heat radiation, but I am not exactly sure what you mean...

The black C3 is made of anodized aluminium. The material transfer the heat much better than the stainless steel version of the C3. It has nothing to with the color but with the material the host is made of.

I once made a 450nm Osram laser in a black C3. Smeerworst has it now.

if it is for low power or a diode I don't care much about, stainless steel is nice. Generally, I prefer anodized aluminum, esp. if HA.

Also, the black one has much more surface area than the stainless steel one, so better at radiating.

Also, the black one is made of aluminum, better at thermal transfer than steel, although steel can hold more heat.

I would go for the black one Aluminium is much better ... And I can polish it to mirror finish so ... It will look almost like the SS version
