High discharge 9V Batteries

Anybody seen 9V batteries that have a higher discharge rate than these and are rechargeable.


500mA max discharge.

Two Li-Ion 9V 500mAh (4.5Wh each) Rechargeable Battery+ 0.3A Smart Charger (9V Snap-on connector)

Interesting. I wonder if these would work well with a Rckstr driver. Capacity is not great through.

This would be more fitting than 2xCR2 or 2x10440 depending on the kind of host you are using. Typically 10440 and cr2 batteries are around ~300mAh, so these batteries would be a good option for project box types IF you are that pressed for keeping it as small as possible. Just a thought.

in my experience 9v batts dont run well in series. that is 18v. and they over heat and break.

Batteryspace has some as well that are rated @ 600mAh but they discharge at like .05C or 35mA max continuous discharge. These are 1C. That is one of the reasons I like their site as they almost always put the discharge rate on the details page.

And they also have a 1200mAh unit but it only discharges @ 50mA.

From a quick google it seems nihm is reccomended for 5c. That's 1.25A with this battery.

I was looking @ Li-ions thinking they would have better specs but it seems the Nimh discharge better and the Li-Ions have better capacity.:thinking:

I have not gotten around to using it for anything yet but I have some ideas that I have not had the time to pursue yet.;)

I suppose that using a pair of 40160 cells in a handheld laser, we need to redefine the mean of "handheld", also ..... "two-hands-held", anyone ? ;)
