Hello everyone, this is my first full DIY 445 build and I am pretty proud of it.

Modeled after a Walther PPK I dissected and modified this airsoft pistol into a high powered 445nm laser.

It took me a while to dremel the metal frame to accept the parts and modifications that I wanted to make but all the hard work payed off in the end.

My diode is being driven buy a well heat sinked 1.8A jib77 driver and providing the voltage are two AW 17500 batteries. Finding batteries that fit inside of the host but still had enough juice to last a decent amount of time was an adventure in itself. The two batteries are held in place by slightly modified AA battery holders. I decided to utilize two different switches, a traditional slide switch and momentary on / off switch. The slide switch acts as a safety similar to a firearm. The laser only functions when this switch is in the "on" position. And of course the momentary switch is activated by pulling the trigger.

A big thanks to Jayrob for creating the perfectly fitting heat sink:thanks:

This is my favorite laser so far and I plan on making at least another laser with an airsoft gun host because I think they make pretty sweet lasers.:eg:

Thanks for reading,

Yes and I apologize for that. There is no excuse for that I will take that picture off.

Here are the goggles that I own and should have been wearing

Lol what kind of pennies are those?

Pre 1982, when pennies were still copper.

That is such an awesome laser is the whole airsoft gun metal? As in realistic?

The whole thing is metal except for the grips. It is pretty thin, nothing like a real gun.

Now how can I do mine and not look like I was copying?

I wouldn't mind if you copied, I mean like you said it is pretty awesome! And I am sure there are a lot of things you could do to make it your own. There are just as many airsoft gun designs as there are flashlights. And I actually looked at that laser before I decided to go with an airsoft host. I thought it was too small to do what I wanted.

That is a very cool build and an interesting application of our extended focusing ring! :gj:

Have you measured the actual output?

This fake gun looks very real. For your own safety I suggesting you paint the knurled lens assembly a flourescent orange.

painting the focus ring might be a good idea
as from a from a distance it does look like a ppk with a threaded barrel
witch is kool as hell if you ask me :gun:
