Scary incident

about 20' ago I left a bar in the city centre where I went my friends to have a drink. I felt like coming back home on foot rather than take a taxi. Since it was ~2:00 am there is only one bus which comes like every half an hour, so I said" blargh i'll just walk" As I was walking back to my apartment, I stopped at an ATM to withdraw some money because I had none on me. I took a look at both sides before taking my card out and saw someone coming towards me. I went to find my card in my wallet anyway. Because i have many stuff in my wallet the card was not easy to find and be taken out. There were actually 3 guys coming to me. One of them came near me and since I was still searching for my card I asked him politely if he wanted to withdraw money before me. He said " No, no". I then realised something was wrong there. I secured my wallet in my pocket and went to leave. The guy grabbed my arm and said, " where you going pal? " I said, "leave me pal" but he was holding my arm with quite a strength. I then saw a knife in his other hand and started hitting his arm with my free arm. I managed to free myself and started to run. I knew I had to run. The fact that he had raised a knife made me flee. I reached the building where my apartment is, running. They didn't run after me when I freed myself. That was a relieve there.

A similar incident never happened to me, so I was a bit shocked, but not afraid. Well, I was a bit, but not enough to not be able to handle the situation calm. I had no laser on me today. I won't be out alone again in such a late hour. I will be going nearly everywhere with a laser from now on.

I hope this doesn't happen to someone else, although it sure has happened to some of you before. This is my story. Feel free to post a similar situation in which you have been and how you handled it.

2 words..."carry permit" And I don't mean a laser.

I'm sure people will chime in saying you're opening yourself up for criminal charges if worse comes to worse, but if I had to choose between getting stabbed to death or killing a attacker and taking my chances with the law...I choose the latter.

I don't know what the laws are in Greece..... But you should never be that late Alone. Even with a gun there was 3 guys and if they had more ill intention you for sure would of got hurt if not worse even with a gun.

Now I'm not saying you couldn't scrap with 3 guys as thats not impossible, I have done that once my self. No weapons were involved and I got hurt but they were running and hurt more... But at 2 am And Alone and Your out front of a ATM, your asking for trouble..... Be safe friend

Lawl well I went for a quick drink but I ended up staying with some company for 2+ hours at that bar. It was really stupid by me to be at that atm, but hey, if i didnt stop there and they followed me close to my house, they might even found out where i live.. I wonder thought why they didn't run after me :/ I mea, I'm so glad they didn't but, well anyway. Someone can't imagine death coming closer if they don't experience a situation like this themselves
Thanks for your sympathy, everyone. I appreciate it. And if some thought I opened a thread to get comments of kind " hey glad you are ok friend ", I didn't. I thought this would be a lesson for those who read this thread and they will avoid being out alone in such an hour.

Even the ones who feel they can scrap for them selfs should head this advice. It doesn't hurt to have a friend around. If that was in the US they would of chased you down for sure. And the fact that the other dudes didn't do anything to you man, that was a close shave my friend a close shave

Yeah I thought it would end up worse there. I think running was the smartest thing to do for me :/

Be glad if that was here man, they don't mess around. and they all have guns. and there no fair play they mob stomp 10 on 1. I'm still shocked the other 2 didn't help. You got away good man, don't push your chances and keep a friend around that late.

I'm gonna speak out here against the advice to carry a gun. Don't. Do you know what kind of things happen in jail?

were the other dudes close to you? Or they were still coming up? can you describe the setting a little more?

I agree it's more safer to just have a friend with you than a gun. You pull a gun and they have one your in a cross fire. And if they have a gun they will pull it onto you before you could them so your already cought off guard and if you pulled one out at that point they would shoot.

And I don't know Greece gun laws
