its a transformer (inverter for neon lights) It produces high volltage of 1kv+

And yeah, it's a transformer made for running neon signs. 15kv at 30ma is enough power to kill you if your not careful, i tend to stay atleast 1 metre away while its running, considering the arc itself can stretch about 10cm ;D ;D ;D

it will tremendously slow your heartbeat and cause a slowed breathing, and basically f*** you up, but it wont kill you (unless you're an old fart)

nice stuff u gots there... My uncle has a transformer, In fact I have no idea what it was made for originally, but it is insane voltage. When holding both leads (by the insulation of course) you can feel your hands vibrating...

ill have to get the specs on it sometime...

umm. no you need 60ma to kill you. 30 ma+ will F*** you up (unless you are an old fart) and stuff like 1mA will give you a nasty as hell shock.

Surely what amkdeath means is that if you happen to exist as an ancient cloud of flatuence, the electrical arc will ignite you into a roiling fireball of death. :D

Amk your wrong, It takes only 6ma at that voltage to kill you, 30ma will fry you the fuck up , 60ma.....well a big burned puffy marshmellow?

actually AMK, neon sign transformers are quite dangerous, I have a 7.5KV unit at 30mA and the sticker warns of severe burns shock and death

what does it has to be that you're old with dying from a transformer?

if you have heart problems you're a lot more likely to die of an electric shock. the way electricity kills is by fibrillating the heart, causing it to stop pumping blood.

Anyways, wikipedia says "death can reportedly occur from currents as low as 0.1 amperes." which if I'm not mistaken is 100mA... I've always been told that neon sign transformers can be very painful, but aren't fatal under normal circumstances.
You'll always need a path through the heart to die of an electric shock, so I've always kept one hand in my pocket when dealing with HV circuits... I've taken some ugly shocks in my day, but I haven't died yet.
