Does have a microscope, but not used in medicine ;)

Something used to determine purity or quality of precious metals? Or something for making tiny things out of it?

If i'm right about that, you probably shouldn't give it to me. My guess was founded on "what is just about the only thing you can do with precious metals? And why would you need to see them on a small scale?" :p

Although, that said, I could probably cook up something fiendish.
