I'm not suppose to load inside my house either(Rented house) so I do it on the enclosed front porch

If you want/need ammo, you can get away with a simple hand/hammer reloader such as the "Lee classic loader"... It doesn't require you to stock larger amounts of powder and primers if you just need a few rounds...

I'm in Toledo, OH. May just be a regional situation, but nowhere around here seems to have any. And, most places online are backordered or not even selling any.

Protection is the only reason that I have firearms. I live in St. Louis, which is one of the most dangerous cities in America.. I can guarantee you that if anyone ever puts my safety or that of my family in jeopardy, I'll be prepared for it.

Every time I hear of people dying in other countries as victims of violent crime I thank the stars that I live in a country where if I so desire, I can carry a weapon so that I can defend myself with lethal force if necessary. Anyone who would be foolish enough to attempt criminal harm to me or mine should and (if I have my way) will die right there on the spot. And then you have the fact that an armed populace makes a country virtually impossible to invade successfully. What this means is that each and every American need not fear finding themselves controlled by a foreign government. I'm pretty sure I can speak for any law-abiding American gun owner when I say that if I heard of an attempt at occupation, I would arm myself and join in the fight. Very few countries on the planet can offer the same kind of guarantee to their citizens.

I understand the need for outsiders to criticize our ways. Criticizing America is commonplace among citizens of other countries, and that's fine by me. Criticize all you want. Hopefully it never happens, but if a foreign citizen should find themselves face to face with a killer (no matter what the weaponry involved) I'm pretty sure the wish that they had been prepared for such a situation will be on the forefront of their mind, particularly as the crime is unfolding. Once again.. thank heaven I live where I live. I wouldn't trade it for anything.

@rkcstr: Now that you mention it, I am starting to notice a shortage. I haven't bought any 9mm rounds for awhile, but you'd think I'd have heard some talk about it. Anyway.. Here's my results form a quick search of Cabela's online store.. The are low on 9mm, but definitely not out. Here's some links I found to some random 9mm ammo:

Yeah, I was actually just looking at their website yesterday. I do want to get some hollow points as my defensive rounds, but I was also looking at some standard rounds for target practice. Seems all of the cheaper stuff is weeks backordered, but I did find some that said "0-1 week" for backorder, so I may be able to get some in a decent amount of time.

Too bad, though, because Walmart sells their "white box" Winchester rounds for $19.88 for 100, I believe... same stuff on Cabela's is ~$28 plus shipping and 5-6 weeks backordered.

keep an eye out for gun show's in your area . here in san diego we have them evry 2 month's or so . i buy reload's for target practice. i can get 1000 round's for about 120 buck's . it is true alot of ammo is in short supply now . i my self use a remington 1858 .44 cap&ball for my home defence it make's a lot of smoke and a big hole

I can understand it though. Everyone has guns to protect themselves in your country, so you ALSO need a gun to protect yourselves from THEM. The problem goes round in circles.

I'm just glad I live in a country where I don't need a semi-automatic rifle in my pants to feel safe walking down the street at night

As was said before, you're right, Murudai. All we Americans do all day is sit around and shoot each other. I'm shooting at my mom right now!! Good thing she's got a gun too. At least she can defend herself.

I'm sorry but I agree with Murudai. Nobody should need a gun anywhere to protect themselves from anybody. Even worse people who use them to hunt animals, I'd rather they shoot humans.

Id rather see an animal shot for food than see what they go through in a slaughter house. Have you ever seen what they do to cows?

Line them up in a stall, slit the throat, and let them bleed to death... Sux to be lower on the food chain :-/

@murudai: It's not that violent of a country in most of the places here. We don't need guns to protect us from law-abiding citizens, we need guns to protect us from the criminals who would obtain them illegal anyways.

Yes, they now kill them instantly with a neumatic piston, same as shooting them but without any bullets involved.

I was talking about "just hunting for fun", not "I'm in the middle of the jungle if I don't hunt I'm gonna die".

Ok to get back on the most recent topic......Well, I think all of you may already know where I stand on this point just from reading some of my older posts.

FYI: I work for a Gun/Weapons manufacturer. Take a guess on which side I stand for.

For me, I woudn't say that there is a need for everyone to own a gun. In my case, I just enjoy going out and shooting at targets. I don't hunt and I don't kill humans

. I am just a gun hobiest/collector, just like I am with high powered lasers.

Just remember.....Don't bring a knife to a gun fight. ;D
