Weeh :'( another one died, now I'm left with one. (two dead, one sold, one remaining) The wires touched places they shouldn't (chassis of my power supply which ought to be grounded) Another lesson leaned.

Good thing you got them so cheaply, huh? It wasn't long ago we were buying XBOX add-on units for $50 just to get an 0811 half the time.

Other than that all that was available was the PS3 and the 6X.

Quit whining! Buy another one. These may be available ONLY because of the promise to "support" the HD DVD players sold, for a year after blu-ray won the war. How much longer before that year is finished?

Peace,
dave

I'm a little concerned for your diode, D3StRoY. If I plot a point of your diode in my graph, it's either the same as my weakest one except pushed farther, or it is less efficient than my weakest and you're pushing it even more. For a long lifetime, I suggest you draw a graph like I did and watch for the knee.

Yea i really dont know.. i think im pushing this one too much.. got my 2nd one to test atm at the same current, im curious how it will perform.

lol nice. Now you know how I feel... :'(
No, I feel great. The last one standing is the most powerful one and I want more of these in the future anyway. If your GB#3 is as cheap as this one, I'm sure in for two or more.

It's hella bright. At the highest power I dare to drive it (189mW) it hurts the skin when focused at infinity (Aixiz), without lens it feels really warm, and lights a match with a 1/20" spot.

With needlepoint focus it instantly burns every white surface I could find: paper, plastic, laminated wood, styrofoam, and even a totally transparent CD, and that all when battery powered at 125mW

Grab the heatsink between two pairs of pliers or diagonal cutters and just break the heatsink apart.

It's very brittle metal and it shouldn't take much force. The diode should just fall right out, make sure you do this an inch off the table, a 5 foot drop to concrete will likely kill it.

Wow this thing can really burn! I've allready lit two match boxes, killed ants, and burned everything I've pointed it too. It rocks!

I buildt me a labby and are about to make a pointer with the other one when the flex drives are done.

Anyway, the diode is running at 100mA and it gets hot after a few minutes and lose some of it's power. For heatsinking I use five 24mm washers SOLDERD to the module, but I guess that isn't enough. Anyone else who has this problem? Also, the diodes have windows, with was disappointing but I can live with that. All in all it's an awesome diode.

i take two pliers on either side of the heat sink and twist opposite directions, the diode just falls out in like 2 seconds.
