Hi. I live in Australia and am going to Bali, Indonesia next month. I plan to buy a laser there. I know that Australian customs are very strict but i am wondering if there is something i can do to get it past customs when i come back from Bali? Has anyone got a laser through customs at the airport?
Thank you...

IDk if this will work, but put it in your checked baggage and take the battery out

Your best bet would be to break it into parts. Mail some of the parts back and take others with you on the plane.

I brought a 10mW red when I was in Japan and put it in my carry on luggage. Went through customs fine. The officer did ask if I had a laser with me and i blatantly said no, and it got through fine...

Oops :)

They will scan your luggage. The more you can do to not make it look like a laser/laser pointer the better.

Has anyone bought cheap chinese laser pointers through Australian airport customs lately? I was planning on unscrewing the bases and removing batteries and sticking them in separate suitcases.

I read from someone else on here, That get some sort of food or some shit, Bury your laser in the bottom of your bag, Then put clothes and shit over top, Then right on the top, Put some sort of food in there Like an Apple, Then on the customs declaration, Declare it, They'll open it up, and be like, I'm not sure if i'm allowed it or not, They'll be like nah nah it's not allowed. Then close your bag and be on your way.

lol just strip it down into parts, no warning stickers present, no writing that identifies it as a laser and no batteries in the bag.

I brought a 15 inch HeNe with a 115VAC power supply and a B&W 473nm laser head & power supply through customs just fine. I bought them and had them shipped to a friends house in the US while I was visiting to save on shipping. I flew back to Canada with the lasers in my carry on. I didn't have any troubles.

If it's not a handheld laser and it is something like a lab module, projector, or gas laser, I thought these weren't restricted anywhere. I wouldn't think you'd have much to worry about anyways?

Please correct me if I'm wrong though! :)

Here is another way to get around customs. Just mail them to your home address from what country you visit. Just remove the batteries before you mail them.
