Has anyone attempted to remove the module from one of these? Might be a good way to get cheap modules for other projects...

It would be a waste (IMO). The modules heat up (to over 100F) in a matter of ~15 seconds.

Mine was metered at (peak) 83mW (avg) 71mW on my Laserbee I and it has really poor focus.

Has anyone with a power meter tried some quality batteries like an AW 10440 compared to the stock one and see if it makes a difference in output? Thinking that some of the variations we are seeing may be battery related.

The focus can be changed by removing the cap and unscrew/screw the focusing mechanism.

I tried mine with brand new 10440's. Fully charged, it still only puts out ~80mW max. :yabbmad:

You mean the lens? I'm sure it can be brought into focus, but I am planning on returning/exchanging mine, and don't want to open it for fear that FocalPrice won't take it back (w/o QC sticker).
If they won't give me an RMA# for it, I will fix the focus, and keep my ~80mW keychain.

Was worth a try. The battery they ship looks pretty generic and at $30 for the unit I would think they are going with the cheapest battery they can find.

I have had mine open but did not try to adjust the lens. There is some glue on the edge of the lens on mine that would have to be removed or something for it to turn. Mideval said he tried to focus it and it did not get any better anyway.:yabbem:

I tried focusing mine but the divergence does not seem to get any better than where the lens was originally. I guess this laser is made for burning and not for pointing far away.

Yeah I tried to focus mine but I eventually ended up with the lens in the same spot that it came with. I'm not sure about other units. I think I read on the other thread that someone adjusted theirs and got better divergence. Might be worth a try if the divergence is really bad on yours.

YES divergence can be adjusted. i do it. but i wait to ship back the unit to fp.
in messages fp said me that they can ship a NEW one pen... if i pay 15$.

XD XD XD i replied..... why should i pay other dollars to a new item? i would ship back it and get a replacement.

what should i do? i could keep it... as i payed 15$....and 15$ for a 70/90 mw pen is not bad.... but the power fluctuates.. is not stable.... AND i could receive A NEW ITEM of the SAME POWER :( :( so i could spend 30+15 for tro laser of 80mw .................that are USELESS FOR ME. and i can0t sell them to anyone because no one friends is interested in laser.......

I'll buy the new one for $20 shipped. That way you make a $5 profit. Better than nothing! Oh wait, lol you live in Italy shipping might kill the deal

Hey guys. Got my LPM from Lasersbee today. So first thing I did was do a power test on this little gem.

VIDEO LINK

It is stable at 120mW with a max of 128mW. Hope this helps.

It is hot as well, the battery has not been recharged since I got it, and I have been playing with it a lot today. I will do another test on a fresh battery in a cooler environment when I get home tonight.

EDIT
Also the power went down in the middle of the test because I was not looking and the laser was moving off the sensor pad which is why it jumped back up to 120mW.

Thanks for making that video! Looks like you got a keeper. What's the longest time you have ran it for? Does it get any dimmer as it heats up?

The video was 30 seconds with the laser on. Not sure what the longest I have run it for. Maybe 60 seconds. It does get a little warm but I have not seen it dim or brighten.
