i finally got my motors in!

so over the weekend i finished my first Spirograph build!

what a fun little project.

i also did something i havent seen done before. i made it work with my pocket pal blu ray build!

its small and light. feels great in your hand.

this one is just a prototype so its not all that pretty. i had to relocate the pot and also the switch. so now its pretty much complete but i am going to add another pot to it for more adjustment.

well here are some pictures

here is the first version with the pot on the left.

then the new and improved version with a better pot it was a little bigger so i had to switch sides to make room.
(i also just noticed in these pictures the box isnt screw together.... my bad)

yes 2 mirrors on this build the next one im doing will be a hand held 3 mirror spiro.

i just need to figure out my config for the mirrors because i dont want it to shine out the side of the box.

and thanks for the kind words guys!

yes it would be MUCH MUCH easier to do that. the only i dont like about that is its big and very cheap looking. think its better to make one yourself!

but thats a good start!

[smiley=thumbsup.gif] That is very nicely done TSM, a build to be proud of.
As to the 3 mirror something like this may work.....
although alignment would be tricky ;)

thats funny you say that rog cause thats exactly what i was thinking except the first mirros would be a little closer to the laser. that way the design wouldnt get to big for the last mirrors.

here my little variation to yours

Actually what would be the easiest would be to add a 4th mirror just not mounted on a motor.

That would certainly do it ken, I would say that a 3 mirror spiro that I made didn't give anything like as good a selection of patterns as a cross over one..... That may be of course that my mirror angles are too shallow.... not sure... :-/

i have actually pondered that idea as well. just not sure if i wanna have to worry about a 4 mirror and mount. and then have a 4th mirror to adjust as well.

Awesome.

You should build them and sell a few :D Or just write up a tutorial on how to make then :p

I'm looking at putting together complete spyro's with multiple laser inputs in a nice little project box like such....

Not exactly "handheld" but certainly portable. Instead however, I'll be mounting the lasers inside the unit.
