Under what circumstances would you need this? I doubt it is possible to fix a broken diode laser... Is it for people who want to see what it looks like inside a diode?

Sometimes foreign matter gets "baked" onto the window

Sometimes a window gets cracked, broken, or knocked loose

Those are the two main reasons to de-can a diode

more power and life without a diode can.
From what i remember that is why open cans last longer than closed.

Hey would you look at that they accepted my offer.
Well i got this well over 50% off.
So now once i get my supply of new 635nm diodes to play with im going to decan half them and run some tests, if i get more than a 5% power difference then im going to start doing it to all my diodes.
