Hey, so I have about $200, and wanted to get a green laser. I would prefer to spend $150 or less, so I can get goggles, but I would spend up to $200. And good companies, or even better, actual lasers that you would recommend for me? BTW I am in the U.S., but I am willing to accept the risk of getting the laser taken at customs.

Personally, I'd go with either laserbtb as Tha Greenlander suggested, or from scifi lasers Sci-Fi-Lasers they are from a reputable member on the forums (thejoker301) and are for a good price. Survival lasers is the best place to get safety goggles internationally. good luck on your decision!

go with laserbtb for the most bang for the buck. or grab a diode/driver set from dtr and roll your own

Hey, on laserbtb, should I get 520nm diode green or 532nm Green? What is the difference? If I should get the 532nm green, I will probably get this one: HL 532nm 50-300
I am probably going to get the 100mW one, but what is the differenc between the 50mW glued crystal and the 50mW separate crystal?

Thanks in advance, N1ghtFeather

Well it all depends on which color you like best, 520nm will appear more "greener" when compared to 532nm.

520nm
532nm

glued crystal: means: we buy the finished "Nd:YVO4 + KTP + Cavity lens" in one small size mount from supplier, the glued crystal is for lower power green laser <100mW with lower cost, and the small size heat sink is not so good.

separate crystal: means: we buy the Nd:YVO4, KTP,and the Cavity lens, apart from suppliers, and we produce big size bronze
mount for the three components, then build the combination of the three parts by ourselves in our lab, the separate crystal is
for higher power green laser 100mW with good beam quality, and the big size heat sink is better.

:)

What will the laser be used for? Burning, star pointing, indoor pointing...

DPSS (532) won't do so well on a cold night but is slightly cheaper than the diode greens at the moment (not by much though).

And separate crystal is best, which if you go for the 100mW you automatically get anyway.

Hey...your best option is to buy from the forum. Blord is a trusted seller and he has some green lasers in a 501B host for around 150. Guarenteed quality build just go to the bst section of the forum

Build one unless you want to spend like 300 on a good green laser. Cheap 200mw green lasers and blue lasers etc... is mostly just infa-red light. only about 20mw could be actual 532nm when 180mw is just infa-red light. Bad thing is that infa-red light is not as coherent 532nm light so the beam spreads more on cheap lasers. That is why you will see a 1watt 402-532nm laser for $300 at wickedlasers.com and you can get a 1 watt 402-532nm laser for $50. It is because the cheaper one is selling you mostly infa-red light. So get a diode for whatever laser you want you will most likely have to spend $100 on the diode if you want a high quality one like the wickedlasers.com lasers. Then spend about $40 on a heatsink and module and driver and you have a $140 high power laser like the ones that wicked lasers have.
