This might not be the right place to put this but here we go...I didn't want to post in the buy/sell because i'm not ready to buy right now.

I have been looking all over the web for Lab style housings for builds. I'v found plenty of project box's and such but not what i'm looking for.

Perhaps if anyone has a couple of links for suppliers for these it would help a lot.
Here is a picture of the type of unit i'm looking for. Anything close to this would help.

@ Meatball.....The photo came from his post, i'm using it just to show what i'm looking for, I don't want a whole system just the housing.
@Dave.....I actually have one of these here at home....It's a bit slim for what I had in mind, I like the fatter/wider one in the picture. There must be somewhere you can get different dimensions of these, without having to strip an actual laser.

Thanks to you both for your input.

I've inquired about such cases with a number of manufacturers, but so far they seemed impossible to obtain at reasonalbe prices.

If you are able to find a source, let me know!

Edison will work with you if you ask nicely. Maybe he has an extra one lying around.

That I will!
I'v run into the same thing, that's why I posted here. They seem to be all over the place with different sellers though, I'm sure all Chinese made, but finding one that will do a fair price on less than 1000 is a bit harder.

I PM Edison on PL to see what he has to say. I will keep you up to date on what I find.

I believe that seller was just taking these:

473 nm Blue Laser, DPSS, B&W Tek BWB-10-OEM - eBay (item 220660063507 end time Feb-21-11 14:47:07 PST)

and parting them out. the holokid seller used to have more of the components up for sale but looks like he just is down to the 473nm crystal blocks now.

BTW I got one of these. It took some work tweaking the driver and making a collimator, but in the end, 30mW of stable 473nm for $87 wasn't a bad deal.

That eBay seller used to have some of the broken ones too. So I bought four (4) of those for about $30 each. He doesn't have any more from what I've seen. No, I won't part with them, but they're really nice enclosures, and the power supply is good too. I just wish I could figure out how to make it work for other stuff.

You probably don't need a case like that though. They're large and nice, but they're only large because they're for holding the crystals needed for DPSS lasers. With anything else you'd be essentially just mounting the real laser mount inside the nice looking case, perhaps for added stability, but probably not.

The labby I wish I could get in quantity are those red laser blocks from Deal Extreme at less than $20 each. Unfortunately, they won't ship them to the US anymore, and they're sold out currently. What's nice is that you can fit an Aixiz module in there and they're a pretty meaty sized heatsink. They also have screw holes in the bottom to mount them.

I do have one of the nice fixtures but am looking for something more 'square'......These type of small set-ups like above have crossed my mind as well.

.

I don'ts see what would be bad about oversize heatinking - perhaps these things are big, but they could be fine heatsinks for home made 445s and such.
