Protected 10440 exist here f.e.
Ultrafire Protected 10440 Battery, 350 mAH

Nice build man.

Huh... I spend to much time looking for batteries on DX and ebay. Thought protected
10440's were the unicorn of the Li-ion world. Must give those a try.

I think its because of the audio clip on the video. Adding some PinkFloyd seems
to be an issue for viewers in Germany only.

If the driver in a good AAA light could deliver e.g. 1A to a LED it would give something like 3.5W or up to 350 lumen.
I am not sure it those are available.

Re: FOR SALE - Smallest / Most Powerfull 445nm Pens

@ wannaburn I got the laser today. Thanks. It looks very nice. the host is a lot smaller than i expected and it looks and feels great. the lens is nice and tight yet easily focusable. I dont have a 10440 (yet) so I am using a lithium 1.5V cell.

It is hard to focus it at a distance to get it collimated without seeming to be at the back end of the lens travel. is there any risk of the lens hitting the LD as in some other designs? I will need the 10440 to see if I can focus it at a distance as its too dim to see for sure. there is also a little more lens splash than i expected, more than my 405-g-1 builds. but the real test of all this will be with the 10440.

so for now, i am quite happy with it. great host and design. can't wait for POWER!

Follow up: I removed the lens to investigate. With my DIY build using an Aixis module, the 445 LD casts a nice rectangular divergent beam with little "splash" around the border of the beam. however with your build there is a lot of splash in the form of a circle. The LD lens appears clean and intact. So I am not sure why there is so much "splash"? I wonder if its tied to the low output of the LD, some kind of anomaly on lower output currents?

This is the first host I have ever seen where the Aixiz focus ring actually looks good! I always find it out of scale with most other hosts.

I don't want to do a full review until I get the 10440's but later on I will post a shot with this laser beside other hosts.

Re: FOR SALE - Smallest / Most Powerfull 445nm Pens

Im not sure... I check my LD's as they come out of the projector, and the only lenses I use
are fresh new lenses from Chuck from Aixiz..

Try using the aixiz lens from another laser and see if you have the same issue. If it
does, I will send you another lens.. From what I have seen with the diodes, splash is
not uncommon.. I use the same lenses as most around here, so id imagine the anomalies
in the output are fairly common.

The 'splash' may also be more noticeable at lower power, not sure.. I check to make
sure the lens as well as the LD are nice and clean before I use them.

I did have a lens in my last batch that had a tiny bubble in the middle of the glass. It translated
into a small void in the middle of the beam and a dark spot in the dot when viewed
on the wall. I only found 1 lens like this, but you never know..

In regard to lens travel, the lens wont hit the LD, the last few turns should be nice and tight
so you dont have a wiggling lens.. The teflon on the threads may cause it to feel stuck, but
you can tighten it down until the focus ring hits the body of the laser...
