Funny how in your reasoning, you failed to mention the higher power output as one of the reasons for your interest in this diode

-Chris

I didn't mention it because the information about 12x BR is already stated in the first post. The reason of the post is that I am still interested if the price is higher than $12 but in smaller amount.

I have waited a long time for this thread to appear. The 12x diodes are the ones I have the most fun with. Tightest beams out of any handheld, and power easily exceeding 750mw. I suspect the new diodes will give 1W at divergence far better than any multi-mode 445nm. But when 12x diodes are now $50, a $300+ difference will take quite the hobbiest to find it worth the extra 250mw at the risk of early testing.

A $300+ difference? The samples are $12...

In orders of how many though? And there's the possibility, like pullbangdead said, that there was a typographical error and the decimal place is a few places off.

Well of course the price for our amounts would be greater than $12, but I don't see it jumping by that much. And regarding the typographical error, they would have had to make two of them; ¥1,000 is equal to $11.92, as they had stated. The only logical possibility of an error here is if the price is actually ¥10,000 ($119.20), and they accidetally converted the mistyped amount of ¥1,000.

Cmak, you have a hard time grasping the reality of many things. Just because a quote was found saying these are $12 does not mean you will ever have the opportunity of paying $12 for one. I find it funny to note that I have not seen this forum get a hold of such diodes at low prices ever. It has always been, buy the electronic it arrives in, disassemble, and then extract the diode. That drive for these new does was just stated to cost close to $400.

Work with the logic that history has demonstrated in the past, not with the thought of how you wish it could occur.

Sorry, I forgot about you. You are the most likeable person here. I like how you don't try to start pissing matches with everyone.

Whereas Exerd here has to be a smartass about it. Look, if they are advertising that price, call them up on it and see what the deal is. Neither of you should be arguing until we know that the conditions are.

Either one of you could be wrong.
