Most say just to buy the parts and make your own laser. But what if I want a green? As far as I know there impossible to make with home appliances.

Red lasers are cool. But mainly for burning. Not visibility...

So I'm completely stuck on what I CAN do right now...

I know I'm really getting to be seriously annoying on this forum...  :'(

Re: Yes, there illegal to import to usa, I know...

You can buy them from an approved company, like NOVAlasers. :)

Well, if you're totally freaking out about it you can order the parts and make it but it's a lot harder than a red laser and needs alot more equipment. It would probably help to have some machining tools to make a custom module to mount the crystals , diode and lenses. And you would need 808nm protection goggles.
Yea, it doesn't sound too doable, and it isn't, but not impossible.

You can also make a blu-ray , just as easy as a red DIY.Not for visibility , but it's plenty of fun and keeps you busy for a while. :D

Re: Yes, there illegal to import to usa, I know...

Just buy a green laser from laserglow or optotronics. Opto is even located in the usa so you'll have no problems with customs.

Re: Yes, there illegal to import to usa, I know...

Like he said, there are a few USA based resellers that do the dirty work (importing ) for us. Nova Laser's based in canada but provide no problem shipping to US.

If you read around a little, you will see that there's not necessarly a "laser ban" in US (although you might get in trouble for carring but I seriously doubt it, especially if you have a valad excuse why you use it - mine is construction for in/outdoor pointing) so you can easily aquire green lasers of all types, just somewhat limited since paypal won't handel sales directly from DX and customs might intercept packages going to residents but Opto, LG, and NL have their business methods. It may cost more, but overall you're getting better quality and faster shipping anyway.

Re: Yes, there illegal to import to usa, I know...

You may want to consider Asking NOVA before making a purchase. Their X-series lasers are not FDA compliant. So customs may have a bit of a problem with that. But NOVA guarantees delivery so if it gets confiscated they'll send out a new one.

The Alpha and Nova series lasers are compliant, so you should have no problem buying from them.

Laserglow is also based in Canada, but all their lasers are FDA approved.

Optotronics is based in the US so you should be fine there as well.

I just got a x-75 shipped to my house no problem a couple weeks ago. I know they're not FDA compliant, but money talks, and they're only lasers. Not like they're guns, food, or drugs. I know Opto & Nova have their methods, I wouldn't worry about it.

I guess your in usa then. :D

What if it gets caught importing though? Will it just get stuck and you get your money back. Or do you get in trouble for trying to buy/import it?

I'm not worried about getting caught after receiving it as I will not make it public, and I'm not one of them idiots that's buying it for the heck of it. *shine at plane, woo..... ..*

(I'm talking about novalasers, and the x-series)

Thanks for replying guys, and moond0ggie.

^Most often, what happens is the laser just gets confiscated and nothing else. If there is a delivery guarantee, then the company may refund you, or may just ship another and hope it gets through that time.

Again, most often it is just a confiscated laser, but the potential is there for jail and/or thousands of dollars in fines. Not trying to scare you, just explaining all the possibilities. Members here have had their lasers confiscated before, but no one that I know of has had any other repercussions, but it could happen.

Is there any real reason you want one that is illegal to import rather than just buying one that is perfectly legal to import in the first place?

Yes, California to be exact. It's coming from a valid, well-known company (Nova Lasers) and I'm sure customs see their packages all the time. As far as it getting stuck at customs, HIGHLY UNLIKELY. And I believe that Nova will make sure you're taken care of is something happens in transit. They have great customer service and they do excellent business I wouldn't worry about a thing when buying from them. As far as you getting in trouble, no way, impossible, never just for ordering them. There are many Laws in the US that are actually greatly ignored and neglected. Not saying not to be careful with lasers, but I have yet to hear of someone even getting their laser confiscated never mind getting in trouble just for caring. Of coarse its a different story if they're looking for it. Don't worry, if you order it, you'll get it. And, they’re excellent quality too ;)

I hate the two second delay.

Thanks and also Ace82!
