Wtb wicked lasers torch, and arctic III

@SRESAL - The module inside one of my WL lasers is exactly the same as in all the others I've seen from olike, lazerer, dx, and rayfoss. I haven't taken apart the wl e2 I have, but I'd be surprised by anything out of the ordinary.

@Jerry, thank you for covering essentially what I was going to say.

@Yobresal, thank you for hearing it, and agreeing.

The biggest problem I have with WL right now is with their deceptive/misleading marketing.

If they start advertising their 1W lasers as 500mW but likely overspec... it would be a different story, but as it is, it's not.

Based on my experiences with them, I'm also hesitant to give them another shot.

As the saying goes, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice...

SHAME ON ME! :eg: I think I will give them a second shot, BUT I will order something like the E2. It wont be a big blow if it doesn't work, is underspec, or never arrives.

if thats what you are expecting, WHY DO IT???
order from lazerer or something
i expect an onspec laser that will arrive in a timely manner when i order from them
and that is why i will order from them again

Because it has been a year since I ordered from them. What if they really have changed? I really like there hosts even though they are overpriced. But a lot of companies are overpriced. If they are overpriced, but the shipping is ok, item is ok, and customer service is ok. Then I would still order from them.

o.0
i dont get your logic
i think lazeerer (the user) is over priced
but his hosts are EPIC
his services are excellent
and shipping is also great
still dont know why you wold settle for "ok" even if you can get just as good hosts elsewhere

Im not going to lie, the arctic host is probably my favorite host for a 1w 445nm, Ive never seen one I like more. Not even the Lazerer Rifle. Idk why I just like the battery indicator and the smart switch.

Yeah I really like the power button and indicator light. I am also a fan of the E3 host. Not the e2 so much. But definetly the E3

Yep, the arctic host and E3 are my favorite. Ill probably order a low power E3 and review it. Hopefully they don't disappoint me again.

The first "historic" hic-up they had was with the release of the Original "spyder 300" It was an extremely heavy clunky piece of laser. There was a huge delay in production and the modules they received had defective pump diodes. Despite losing a fair bit of money on the production of the first run they promptly released the SpyderII and sent everyone who had any issues with their first spyder the SpyderII In most cases they even let their customers keep their original Spyder.

Are you sure WL lost a fair bit of money on the first generation Spyders? I still remember they charged $2K for the 300mW model. $2K is a crapload in China considering the average annual income per person back in 2006 was just that.

I probably should have kept the first Spyder they sent me because despite leaking a fair amount of IR, it could maintain a stable +300mW over several minutes. I could have just stuck a cheap IR filter on it, but I sent it back and received a Spyder that quickly died after I stuck fresh batteries in it.

Everyone experienced the same problem with this 2nd run and WL claimed the engineers mistakenly reversed the polarity on the driver. This was the only defective Spyder that WL let the customers keep.

The 3rd Spyder I received wasn't much better as it could only maintain 300mW for 1 minute before quickly losing over half its power. The lens was also messed up and I could see ugly scatter around the dot.

The Spyder II was also a big failure as I recall. After people started getting underpowered units that consistently metered less than 300mW, WL quickly changed the specs to "200-300mW" but kept the price astronomically high at $1700. WL also claimed it had a TEC but that was total nonsense.

If you ever take apart one of his lasers, you'll have a new found appreciation about his lasers.

I've gotten lasers from both lazeerer and Lazerer, and in terms of internal work... there is absolutely no comparison.

No matter how good lazerer gets, you just can't compare custom, one of a kind work to mass produced chinese items.

Also, have you ever looked at the difference in heatsinks... it's a big one... pun intended:shhh:
