I'm looking for some AK-007 drivers, of the revision that actually put out a decent ~600 to ~750mA for a 445.

Whatever they did to iterate the design, the latest ones I've received from DX only do about 200mA.

Alternatively, if you have / know of a similar 12mm diameter driver that can push a decent amount of current, I would be interested in those.

I'm ok with paying more than the original price for the AKs, as long as they are the good version (not the current version up on DX)

I could use up to 5

I got plenty I bought from moh, I only used one or 2. I'll pm you about a trade.

rhd have you tried modifying these drivers at all?

I know with the "good" ones, I had one that i accidentally de-soldered the small resistor that sits next to the negative output pad on the lower board. I just bridged it with solder and now it outputs 1.4A

Good point, Moh. If there is a way to get the new ones working with a reliable modification, I'm game. :yh:

Interesting. At 1.4, did anything need heat sinking?

I'm sure it does, but i didn't. It runs for about 15 seconds and starts pulsating, giving it a break makes it stop so i assume it wants to be sinked. 15 seconds is long enough for me to light a cigarette, which is about all i use them for nowadays.

Just out of curiosity moh, but what battery are you using for the ak's to light your smokes with, I'd almost guess you',re using too much current and it's either dropping low enough to switch modes or its causing the inductor current to flucuate.

Sorry for t he thread jacking.
