Would it be bad form to ask for a refund?

I bought the 200mW 532nm from SkyLasers for $600, but it stopped working soon after I got it, so I sent it back. Still waiting to hear that they received it.

Now I'm wishing I got the 300mW via the CNI GB...

Should I ask for a refund and go for the 300mW?

IMO- get ur $ back- get a host/heatsink from a LPF member and a green module from DarkLasers(o-Like) and build ur own or have Dark put it together for you and go out for a good time on the leftover money!!!!!<(*v*)>--Hak

That's a great idea. Thanks, but if I went the CNI route, I could have 300+mW instead of 200+mW, and still have spare change for a few rounds at the pub. Got to admit, CNI receives so much praise on these boards, curiosity has got the better of me and I'd like to see what their product is like for myself... and the price is VERY attractive, for a 300 IMH(noob)O.

Dark is putting a couple of builds together for me anyway, so everyone is more or less happy, even SL since I got free goggles with the laser which will be deducted from the refund.

I just feel bad that SL is loosing a fairly big sale. They seem like a great company, and have been very helpful all the way through, with great customer service. It's not their fault that the laser got a bad knock in transit.

Greendream, were you the other person who got a defective 300mW??? i did, and im bumed!!!

Hmm, Skylasers generally had a pretty good reputation when it was launched. I guess it decided it didn't need to maintain its QA after earning our trust. :\

Still, I hope these are just isolated incidents.

Sorry for the double post, but there is another thing I forgot to mention.

Buying from CNI is generally a less costly option since you are purchasing directly from a manufacturer. However, there have been occasional reports of CNI sending out defective lasers, so you might want to take this into consideration. Fortunately, this seems to be a very rare occurance.

By the way, another company you might want to consider is OEM Laser Systems (run by LPF member FrothyChimp), which sells green lasers up to 500 mW for slightly more than CNI. This company is better known for its goggles rather than its lasers, but I have not heard anything bad about its lasers so far.

Let's just say that CNI lasers are very nice. So the real issue is whether you can get your money back. Get in on one of Glenn's GBs (here's #5) and you can net yourself a FINE laser--which is usually over spec--especially since you have a sizable amount to play with.

Get that $600.00 back pronto! We don't pay that much money for 200mw of green here on the forum. That would be considered extremely overpriced here.

Thanks for all the feedback!

I've been negotiating with SkyLasers, so I'll hold off divulging too much detail for the moment, but I've got a refund in my sights. I'll definitely be investing in a CNI greenie once I have my money back. I've already spoken to Glenn.
