It may well be; but here's the real Mc Coy:
www .laserdazzler.net
This is one scary MOFO, especially when you're a long haul driver and some $10/hr knucklehead, parked on a frontage road, fires one at your rig, while you're hauling 10,000 gal of LOX. :'(
The "Compact High Power" unit is 500mw @ 532nm, with an output aperture of 2.25 inches, variable focus, and flashes at some harmonic of the Schuman Resonant Frequency, which I believe to be 14.3Hz, which has been experimentally proven to disrupt the CNS of living organisms, especially when delivered by extremely bright light. It is visible in broad daylight at over 1600 yards, which I can empirically confirm; because the knucklehead who fired at me looked to be at least 1/2 mile away! The energy density is so high that the minimum standoff distance is 20 meters. That's about 1/2 Football field +10 yards!
The "Standard Laser Dazzler" is 200mw @ 532nm, and uses two beam expanders, with an output aperture of 3 inches, variable focus, and flashes at 14.3Hz as well! However, the energy density of this unit is low enough that it can be used at hand-to-hand combat ranges without causing permanent eye damage, or so they say!
Let me know what you think,
Hannibal
