Will this laser burn anything?

Hello guys i have recently ordered a laser pointer off of ebay! And need some awesome help from you guys, to see if it will burn anything at all, heres the link Astronomy Military GREEN Beam Laser Pointer + Charger B | eBay

It probably won't. It's not focusable, and to burn with a green laser you need around 100mW.

Do make sure you operate it carefully though, because 50mW is more than enough to damage eye sight.

To be 50mW it would have to be overspec... which it could be. I like the charger looks pretty good for that price I would be suprised if it burned anything at all.

It may be overspec since many 10-50mW lasers are called '5mW' to sneak the listing onto ebay.
It will not burn anything. It may smoke some dark plastic.

If you want to burn things, get a blowtorch or study laser safety in detail, get a pair of certified goggles and acquire a much more powerful laser.
Burning stuff is probably the most boring thing you can do with a laser though, unless you are dealing with a CO2 unit or have constructed a CNC engraver or similar useful project.

it may cause black trash bags to wilt or put holes. thats about it
