will a driver from a 1mW 405 nm laser pointer work for a 20mW 405 nm laser module?

im new to the laser scene and i want to make a 20 mW laser but i can only buy a 1mW pointer so would it be possible to get a 1 mW laser pointer and put the 20 mW module in it with the 1 mW driver?

Yeah, any violet laser pen will be at least 15mW or so. One of mine was closer to about 40mW.

i got a few ebay 405s that were labeled 5mw, but are most definitely overspec. some pop balloons, some even light matches if held there long enough. Where did you buy your laser from, chief?
