Hey guys:wave:

My LaserGlow Rigel is a Battery Killer:D
I have Spend more than 100$ for Batteries.:shhh:

So want to Ask if 2x 1n4001 Diodes will work in droping the voltage down from an 10440 Battery? I want 3.2-3.4V.

:thanks:

I would reccomend getting a pair of NiMH cells to power your Rigel with, as that's 100% safe for the laser and can be recharged, rather then experimenting with something that might or might not destroy a very expensive laser.

You can find a bunch of NiMH cells on DX and similar sites.

If the laser runs well on the ~2.4 volts provided by nimh's that would be the easiest and safest solution.

If it needs more, you could opt for a single lithium plus drop diodes. How much current does this laser draw from its batteries?

They're only IR laser diodes anyway right? They're pretty low voltage even at high driving amperage.

The diode voltage is pretty low indeed, but it depends on the design of the driver too.

If it runs from 2.0 volts at 1.05 amps i see no problem using nimh or nicd cells, but they need to be good quality to provide that current from a AAA sized cell for any length of time.
