Wicked Lasers - Sonar 200mW

Wow, really? I was under the impression that Jayrob's kits were missing a few important pieces like the Diode and Driver and such.

His kits with the "hot option" come with the driver, pre-set if you like to what every current you want (he will guide if need be). But you will have to get your own diode...

Some of the stores like http://hightechdealz.com/ and http://www.modwerx.com/ even have options if you buy a diode, you can have it pressed in an AixiZ module for you. I'm guessing if WL says the Sonar is 200mW, it's probrably a 6X blu-ray diode, maybe the GGW or the SF-AW ( I think the GGW can be driven a little bit harder, but not much). So get that from one of those stores, get the hot option, get the driver pre-set, and all you have to do is insert the AixiZ module in the heatsink, tighten the set screw with a 1.5mm allen wrench, solder two wires from the diode to the driver and put it in the host!!! It doesn't get much easier than that for your first build

What I want to know is how you fit everything, especially that circuit board (the driver) into a host, and how do you make it stay put? If I just solder the wires to the driver and diode, how do I snugly mount the parts inside the host so the driver isn't just dangling in there?

You should take it easy on twhite828. Here at LPF, we get a lot of people who don't spend enough time using the search function to find the answers they are looking for. 99% the answers are already there.

When I first found this forum, I opened a thread in the welcome section introducing my self, then spent the next 3 weeks, 3 hours a day reading, trying to absorb as much info as possible.

With that being said, your question can be answered by reading jayrobs (FS) For Sale thread located here: http://laserpointerforums.com/f39/jayrob-build-kits-lenses-other-stuff-listed-here-44227.html
Just check it out, lots of pictures (not being sarcastic) to show you how its done, plus when he sends the kit to you, there are usually detailed instructions. And he will answer any question you might have by PM

Yeah, I did use the search function. Find me a thread that discusses whether or not rechargeable CR123A batteries are compatible with the Sonar. There isn't one.

Why do noobs get pissed when you tell them what you know?

Wicked is a company located in china, and I would defiantly qualify them as shady. No reputable company would pull a stunt like they did with the arctic.

And as Twhite said, Wicked has a history of not using drivers with diode lasers. The pulsar does not have a driver, and if you look around you will see that there are not too many of them around anymore because of the crappy build quality.

Get angry, get pissed. Call me a arrogant vet who thinks he knows too much because you don't like the answers I give. The answer will not change.

Is it really that difficult to simply not hit the "Reply" button if you can't just answer my freaking questions? There's a general Wicked Lasers discussion thread for you to vent your rage. Stop trolling here.
