I am confused. My blu ray laser is on ebay, with on day left, and is at £0.99. THe link is here:

Yet when i search, there is a 5mW blu ray laser going for £200. What have i done so wrong that no-one wants to bid on mine, even though it is at leat 12x the power

First thing I noticed was the title of your auction. Instead of saying "Blu Ray Laser", you should say something like "Blue Violet Burning Laser 405nm 75mW".
And it might be because of the UK/USA site listing difference.
I'm must admit that I'm a little surprised that with 100+ views you don't have a single bid.

But look at this through an uneducated buyer's perspective, those beam shots would be a key selling point, it's practically a light saber.
 
That's dissapointing, really dissapointing.  Hope for your sake you have a reserve...
 
OMG, $300 for a 5mW!! I have to start selling blu-rays on ebay ::)
 
my reserve is £50, and if it doesn't go, i will use the same pictures, and maybe add a better beamshot, and change the title, and the text. It is in one big block because google chrome doesn't work properly with selling on ebay, so all the different fonts and stuf didn't come out
 
also a lot of people dont like the fashlight hosts. people love the pen style hosts

People usually think that the bigger lasers are, the more powerful they are. Similarly if I take WL for example the more expensive it is, the higher the quality. That explains their drastic success with n00bs with no marketing experience (like me a year ago)

They are so wrong.

You should sell the laser for 250 $ because people usually compare ebay stuff to company site as a reference. The higher the margin, the more doubtful the product may seem. Lower the margin, and make some money, that's how the stupid society work nowadays.

@helioplasma - so are you saying that becasue it is cheap, people will think it is low quality? That makes sense i guess

I'd add more beam shots - also, if you have (or can make) a short video of some of the florescent effects and burning that might help as well.  From my experience as an Ebay power seller, I find that the more you have, the better - especially good photos, in the case of a laser the prime pics would be beam shots.

One thing you might consider, if not for this auction, but in the future, is to use an outside photo host so that your pics will be bigger and they will lay up in succession on the screen.  Also, if you do that, put several pics before you enter the text - pics are what grab people immediately, then they will scroll down and read your description.  

Here's a link to one of my recently ended auctions - you can see the way the photos are laid out - some people don't like all the scrolling (for dial up I'm sure it's a pain, but most people have high-speed internet these days and dial-up is going the way of the 8-track tape) but personally I prefer that to the thumbnails and "slide show" layout that Ebay provides.

I personally would include some beamshots with smoke like the person in the other auction did. and LONG ONES. It makes the beam look more impressive thus more powerful. His auction is also more professional looking for sure. I also agree that the pen hosts have a tendency to be more attractive as they are smaller. uneducated folks don't know that the larger host is going to be more efficient at cooling than the smaller pen host. If this is using a flexdrive you can also point out that you will get LONG runtime from one set of batteries. and since they are easily replaced there's little cost involved in batteries.

When it comes to sales you need to create Features and benefits. What are the features and benefits of your laser over that other one? Point them out for people to understand (who don't know) what they are getting and why it's better than anyone elses.
 
really simple...
think of all the ppl out there that buy a ebay greenie for cheap expecting it to burn because it says 200mw.

Just gotta advertise to the ppl who really dont know the technical aspect of things because usually the ppl who do understand what you are talking about are the ppl who already have one or make them.
 
Actually I almost buy one green laser on ebay. The price is high and it is pen style hosts with 300mW.
 
Sorry to bump it, but I am a little worried. I put it on just before the eBay laser ban started, and i am worried that it will get taken off. When i added a little to the listing earlier, it warned me that it was not allowed, but should i be OK because i originally put it on before the ban started.
