My friend's xbox died and he gave me the cd drive from it. This is my first time taking the phr laser sled apart to salvage the laser diode. I got it apart but for some reason cant find the laser diode. where is the diode supposed to be? I tore apart the whole laser assembly that slides on the trahks that reads the cds. where is the diode? Why cant I find it? I think I got the ir diode (if its a square diode in a rectangular heatsink)

By the way the sled is plastic not metal like the ones you buy from hightechdelz ect...

It's not the xbox itself that contains the phr. It's the extra drive!

Yup, the Xbox 360 itself does not have the phr sled. I believe it's just a regular dvd reader drive.

The Xbox 360 HD Drive has the phr-803t sled. (buy it for $10 at modwerx.com)

...or get it already in a module with a driver from me for $30 :D
