This buck/boost driver will run an NUGM03T or M140 or XM-L2 at full throttle off'v a single 18650!
Inspecting the product photo carefully reveals that it is current regulated, using high-side sensing.
Most important of all: REALIZE THAT THIS DRIVER CONVERTS WITH 85-95% POWER EFFICIENCY!
There's no adjustment pot so be sure to edit the feedback resistor to match your device ratings.

And so I just bought 3 of them to jack up my Coleman remote-phosphor camping lantern ;o)

There is no current rating on these. You say we have to replace the sense resistor to adjust current, but that is no obvious from the photos and I wouldn't want to buy this on a hunch.

Not the sense resistor, rather the gain at the feedback pin of the TPS63020.
The design is fully documented here rfhv-posts and many other places. The circuit is very generic.
After eyeballing the PCB photos and PCB traces it's certainly the same design, even the input protection.
Additional info in the datasheets for TPS63020 and ZXCT1008 or whatever equivalent chip they're using.
I'll find out when it arrives... I love this "open source" stuff because it's highly modifiable, also in contrast to the Micro Flexdrive which uses the BGA version of the chip.

I see. So, you are going by the chip used in their circuit to believe this can be made to work for your application. It certainly is not the same driver as the one you linked to. Once you get them and find out how they need to be modified, I could get interested in buying a couple. I have several boards in my stock bought on the hunch that they could be modified to work for my purposes. I don't do that as much any longer.

YES, this IC from Texas Instruments works fine, depending on the sense resistor feedback. I have used this on MANY 1W 520nm and 6W 455nm builds in the past. These are asian "square" instead of the 18mm diameter ones we built, but if circuit is similar, should and will work fine. DO you still have any, Ill happily test them if you have not. Im back on LPF and its been some time, getting older suck. Respond at your leisure. M

I don't see a great price there....
You can get it at DigiKey for $3.30 in onesies or
$1.75 in 1K quantities....

I have 25 or so of these ic's and have used them in the white thermally conductive epoxied units above..they're great for both 520nm 1+watt and some efficient 5-6watt 450nm builds. Once set with fixed sense resistor, they are bulletproof. the battery life varies, obviously with duty cycle of build and battery type..but definitely a go to ic for inexpensive, boost driver...
