which ones work?

I recently bought a 5mw green laser with aluminum casing from ebay and want to modify it. I did some research before and found that I only need to replace the laser diode inside it. The problem is there are several kinds such as the ones that are activated from the top. My laser turns on/off from the back so I'm not sure if it will work on mine. I need some advice on where I can find the diodes that work on my laser.

I found some cheap strong diodes from DX but not sure if they fit like this..

20mW 405nm Blue-Violet/Royal Purple Laser Module (3V) - Free Shipping - DealExtreme

Here is what laser I have.....

I appreciate the help

Where to begin. First of all that laser is probably already over 5mW. Second, I don't know where you read that you can simply replace your IR diode to increase the power, but that's not the case. Thirdly, you cannot use a 405nm diode to make green. You pump a DPSS crystal with an Infrared diode in order to get green. Oh and fourth, Welcome to the forum!

oh no no, my laser is already green and i dont want to change the colour. I want to keep the color the same but i want to make it stronger so im looking for a stronger laser module to make my laser stronger. I just want to make my laser stronger....thats all i want to do but not sure which modules work on my laser.

I understand that. YOU are the one that listed a purple module :na: The only way to make it stronger is pot mod (which will destroy it 90% of the time) or buy a new laser

You'll probably end up spending a lot more trying to mod your green laser with something better than it would be to just outright buy some "5mW" violet laser pointer only to find out it's really 40mW (like they almost all are).

If you're trying to replace the entire module then yes I suppose that's possible. But why not just get a new laser?

ok....so you're saying my green laser is stronger than what it really is? anyway i want to make it stronger. everyone is replacing their modules i want to do the same. what im not sure about and need advice about is which modules work with my laser (rear on/off) because there are other that work from the the top.

yes sir, i want to replace the entire module with a stronger one but im just not sure which one will work with the rear on/off because there are 2 types. (top and rear activation). the laser itself i find is pretty good. its aluminum and very sturdy and i would like to keep it. ive seen strong 30mw or 50mw modules for 5-10$ so i want to keep the laser.

The technical terms used here are "rear clicky" and "side clicky" :tinfoil:

What you're looking for is a module without a switch on the driver. You could solder jump the switch on any driver to cancel it out leaving only your rear clicky

If by ready you mean without a switch, then yes. You just need to know what current you're looking for

these are the specs of my laser...
